Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
Wow, so all the bad stuff was inherited from Bush. They opposed the surge many times in many ways, but they are going to take credit for the results?
![]() Sarah Palin was not the stupid running mate in the last election.

This administration can take credit for the turn-around in Afghanistan - from bad to worse.

C'mon. We all know that FDR got on television after the stock market crashed. That's American History 101.

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
The problem is that most folks tend to take what the VP says seriously.
Well - we should know you can't take what Joe says too seriously. |

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
I find your basic assumption (that only one or the other running mate can be stupid) to be fundamentally flawed.

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
Honestly, I don't remember. What I do remember is a saying about a one-eyed man in the land of the blind, which some might consider apropos.

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
As I recall, the general consensus going into the debate was that Governor Palin was going to freeze up, burst into tears, and run from the stage, so by the mere fact that she didn't do so, she was proclaimed the victor.
In terms of substance, it was the same parade of slogans and sound bites that these debates usually are, so whichever side you were pre-disposed to agree with probably won.

He did fail in controlling the Thomas nomination - no excuses for him. As far as Bork was concerned - Bork was too connected to Watergate in the minds of many. I can overlook Biden's actions in that one - a little. Last edited by classicman2; 02-12-10 at 11:13 AM. |

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
Most surveys showed Biden as winning but I don't think they included factual statements as part of the criteria. I think Biden's style carried him through as it always has.

Re: Joe Biden presents: stupid political soundbites
Did I hear Joe correctly at the Olympic opening ceremony? Did he tell the American athletes that he admires them for "risking failure in front of so many people?"
