Strange house rules?
I was playing nlhl over the weekend and it was at a house for the 1st time ever. And I was wondering if this stuff is kinda normal.
-1/1 blinds -No min buy in (even after the bank got to 3500 and short stack at the table was $250) -Anyone could call a 15min break once every 2 hours -You could sit out without blinding -You could return when blinds passed you without blinding -You could sit in at any position but dealer -When you sit in you don't need to blind unless you're a blind -If a card is exposed on the deal it is burned, deal proceeds. Mr. Burned goes without a 2nd card until the deal is complete when they get what would have been the actual burn card. -If a card is exposed on the deal the player can not play it exposed. It felt like a strange to play after only playing online and in casinos, but it should have been an easy game (I left with my money and a DVD rental) with everyone drunk (and altered). Just my thoughts
No min buy in - would be advanatgeous to big steps to push around Anyone could call a 15min break once every 2 hours- home game I guess You could sit out without blinding-not a chance -You could return when blinds passed you without blinding-hell no -You could sit in at any position but dealer-ok -When you sit in you don't need to blind unless you're a blind- no -If a card is exposed on the deal it is burned, deal proceeds. Mr. Burned goes without a 2nd card until the deal is complete when they get what would have been the actual burn card.- Agreed |

I played blackjack in Amsterdam once.
There are so many players they allowed up to 3 people to wager behind each gamblers seated. You literally have to trust the player to play for you. Lots and lots of people did. I remember one rule was if you are dealt 77, hit and got a 7 (for 21), you get paid double even if you eventually tied the dealer's hand. In Atlantic City, I used to play roulette at the Sands. You used to get half your bet back if the ball lands in zero or double zero when you bet the outside i.e. black/red/even/odds, etc.

Im not fucking with their rules, because it is a lush game. Ive played twice now. 1st day I chumped away $100 then rebought $100 and walked away with $80 profit. 2nd day I buy in for $30 (early in the night no one can buy in for more than $50) leave with $300.
Ive brought up questions about the blinds, and min buy in. It typically is a very friendly game (2nd time I was there when it got down to 6 or 7 of us we still had family pots about 1 in 6 hands), so the blinds are such to keep people around. The min buyin is just overlooked by them, though. They don't seem to notice how advantageous it is. Their reasoning is that the very low buy in doesnt have much chance of taking a decent portion of the bank. I was unaware about the exposed card rules. Never knew these things were standard. I just never experienced it before. These guys are drinking and smoking though, so there is an exposed card about once every 25 hands. |

Here's a new one to me. Played with them again last night. The way they played the person utg could raise blind and he'd be last to act preflop, the person behind him could do like wise to him and so on. After a lot of drinks there were 3 blind raises before the flop on more than one hand.

Yeah, that's called straddling and re-straddling and re-re-straddling.

Not strange, but AWFUL:
I just got back from a 9-day trip to Korea. Played poker at the only poker room in Korea: Walker Hill Casino (site of the tournaments hosted by KPPT who is partners with WPT, WSOP, CardPlayer.com). The rake on all the cash games: 10% up to a max of $20. |
