Name a food you love that others can't stand.

Thought I would spin this off another thread as I had an experience last night.

I bought some Qorn Turk'y Roast. Surprisingly good, considering I like meat.

However, my meat-eating friends went into a rant and wouldn't even try the stuff. It's really not bad at all.

I even tried the Qorn chicken breasts which come 2 to a package (~$4) but are expensive so I won't be doing this too often.

Banana and Mayonnaise sandwiches

It's a Southern thing.

Re: Name a food you love that others can't stand.

Like my brother from another mother kahuna415 I like nanner & mayonnaise sammiches too.

My wife is a veganplusfish, so when I make spaghetti sauce for both of us I use the Qorn crumbles.

As for me, I like most everything savory. Some of my favorites turn a lot of people off.

Tacos de lengua
Eisbein
chicken hearts, gizzards, livers
liverwurst
all the veggies (when prepared well)
mayonnaise on fries

Never heard of that combination. Seems strange but I guess whatever floats your boat. I can't stand mayo in any form so I'd never try it.

Olives. When I get a craving I can eat one jar of olives in one sitting.

For breakfast: peanut butter and dill pickles on toast. Also, anchovies and olives of all sorts.

Aw man, especially those stuffed with whole garlic cloves or jalapeno slices.

I like cheap American beer.

Seriously, I'm just as happy with a Miller Lite as anything. I do like Belgian Ales, and am looking forward to the imminent return of Leininkugel Oktoberfest, but plain old American beer is just fine with me.

Re: Name a food you love that others can't stand.

Oh man, so many things:

-anchovies
-beef tongue
-chicken hearts & gizzards
-sashimi -especially raw salmon, squid, fatty tuna and escolar (gotta be careful with that last one though, eat too much and you can get the serious runs I've heard)
-escargot
-raw minced beef (eg. steak tartar, and several Asian and Ethiopian dishes)

And all the above is not stuff that I can just tolerate or kind of like, it's all stuff I absolutely LOVE to eat!

I haven't eaten them in a long time, but sardines are really good. The sardines in mustard sauce on saltines crackers are very good. There was a thread about it here a while back.

I don't drink olive juice but I do tend to drink pickle juice now and then.

Re: Name a food you love that others can't stand.

I drink pickle juice but not olive juice. That's for putting in vodka for dirty martinis.

I also like sardines and the fanciest beer I can tolerate is Stella. Heineken and Corona are great second tiers.

Definitely Sweet Potato since it seems like everyone and their papas hated it in the other thread. I usually go for the Okinawan Sweet Potatoes. Also, Watercress, Bitter Melon and Eggplants rules everything around me.
