Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Surprised no one has said either porn or their cell phone yet.

My addiction is I simply cannot stop being a total asshole. The symptoms are clear for anyone to see, just look at the majority of my posts.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Caffeine is my drug of choice. I decided to cut back to just the one.

Oldboy, see if your doctor will give you a prescription for just the butalbital, and can you can take it with something caffeinated. You'll have better control of your dosages, and no acetominophen to annoy your liver.

Phone for me. I have trouble leaving it off when I'm watching something. It's one of the reasons I like seeing movies in the theater so much, because there I give what I'm watching my absolute and full attention. I have tremendous difficulty doing that at home.
I also keep looking at news, forums, twitter, Facebook... anything to see something new. And also keep looking stuff up (mostly related to movies/TV) and going down rabbit holes. I ought to do something about it.

That is exactly what I take, just knew Fioricet is brand. Butalbital has caffeine and acetaminophen and something else, I think...

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Checking the news. Between my computer and my phone I doubt I go more than 5 minutes without checking the latest headlines.

Also, I might as well face it: I'm addicted to love.

in this case I am serious. I do not have them against my windows though, I am not at that point yet

Here is a photo of a small part of my collection which I posted in the Alan Smithee thread:

for size:

Spoiler:

I have collected stamps, coins, old toys, baseball cards, movie memorabilia, and Hot Toys action figures through the years, and also some other things, but not to the extent of those. My most obsessive periods were collecting comics, Hot Toys & DVDs/Blu-rays.

Yea, I'm "addicted" to porn. Likewise, I'm also "addicted" to sunshine, healthy food, pursuing my dreams, and helping my family.

And this damn forum.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

There really ought to be a Jaymole Problems thread.
Jay, what have you done with past collections? Did you ditch the stamps coins and comics? I also live in NYC so it amazes me that you're able to store all this stuff.

That picture is the most organized part of my collection....major director's films are grouped together as well as Foreign films by country. However I would say half my collection cannot be organized as I do not have the room so many of them are in packing boxes.

I still have my stamp collection buried somewhere in my parents house. I was buying individual albums for countries which had spaces for every stamp ever released by that country ( I stopped collecting stamps almost 30 years ago). I still have all my Hot Toy figures which number around 80, all are still in their original boxes as I have no room to display them.

I lost most of my comic collection when the dealer i sold /consigned them to went bankrupt and I lost all my money....pretty much my entire life savings vanished (over $70,000).

I still have part of my toy and movie memorabilia collection, The rest I sold off (along with my other collections) to help pay for my present collections.

Fioircet is butalbital, caffiene and acetaminophen together.

Butalbital is just butalbital.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Working nights has turned me into a coffee drinker, I had never planned on it but it just happened. The caffiene addiction has lead to some health issues I am getting better with, but getting it under control makes me feel like my head is starting to clear up. Also when I had back surgery in 2012 I did have some experience with taking prescription painkillers, not an addiction by any means, but kind of felt how it can become that.

Yep. Caffeine, nicotine, and I guess kratom to a mild degree.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

I used to be addicted to smoking but I've found it simple to quit. I did it in 2004, 2009, 2012 and most recently in 2015.

But seriously nothing really addicting for me. If anything probably soda but I've been trying to ween myself off it. I can go quite some time without one.. and make it more like a treat than something I have to have every day or so.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Smokeless tobacco. From about 16-30 and then 33 to 45. Evil fucking thing with no purpose, but I loved it. First time I quit it took the patch for several months and I never really got over it. I still knew that mundane activities sucked, but with tobacco it was okay. But most times it just interfered with your life, or relationships, or anything else.

Last time I quit I used the patch and decided to stay high for several days straight because I had noticed I didn't use it when I was high. On the 4th day I took off the last patch I used and I've barely thought about it since. So fucking happy to be past it.

Re: Have you ever been addicted to anything?

Spending money. I oftentimes found myself buying something whether it was something I legitimately wanted or not. I kind of realize now that it's not so much the item I often wants as much as the transaction of seeing a reward for working hard. Trying to kick that but it's been hard.

I also got addicted to escorts for awhile. I was in a city that I knew a former porn star I used to watch was from and I saw a posting saying she was occasionally an escort. So I looked her up decided what the hell and met her and had an INCREDIBLE time. Fast forward a couple months later and I suffered from depression and was starting to meet people from Backpage more and more. I decided it was time to stop when I found a review board where the " escort hobbyists" would go to talk about different girls they would meet and review them. Seeing people with 2,000 posts on a message board like that, or people who talked about it like it was their main hobby was enough to scare me off that path and quit.
