Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

I had just been a lurker on the FB page. And now that has come to an end.

I liked the FB page for what it was set up to be--a place that could be used should this site ever fold up unexpectedly or even when it was down. But lately it has been nothing but a place for folks to gripe. And we already have the religion/politics forum for that.

Not true. Now we have Matthew McClane's weekly DVD acquisition updates. And who could forget such classic threads as "Is DVDTalk down?" and "Is the forum down again?"

Just lots of pictures of people's cats and dinners, plus passive-aggressive status updates when they have an argument with someone on their friends list.

I vote for Matthew McClane's weekly DVD acquisition updates for Facebook/DVDTalk thread of the year.

I personally think it's really cool and I used to excitedly point out my LD, CED and Betamax players to people and tell them about it... but I've become conscious of the fact that nobody gives a shit and finds it even remotely interesting.
You don't need those people in your life. Some people aren't even worthy of seeing a working CED player in action!

Anyone got a link? I see multiple dvd talk groups, but none of them clearly jump out as the right one.

It's basically a place where people can bitch about the Mods without getting banned by the Mods.

Most of the complaining I noticed was directed at specific members, or at the site in general. I found it a tad ironic--on FB, you can see the actual person doing all the whining griping, so you're not hiding behind a username. Yet, those rants are done by people "hiding" in an off-site group where their comments can't be seen by those they're talking about.

I makes no difference to me who sees my whining OR griping; I have stated on there who I am.

Part of the reason it exists is in case this site ever goes belly-up. Not sure if that sways you one way or another.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

Okay, they just added me to the group. It's basically a less active, less moderated version of the same shenanigans you see here. Jaymole, you should join, mostly so I can get a hold of you next time I'm in NY, so we can hang.
