I deleted my first attempt at this post, Trevor, I hardly ever post on Facebook, but I just sent a request to join the group. At the end of the day I am not giving out my social security number, just my real name...no fear putting it out there. Please approve the request from Christopher H.

I think I'm up to date on approving people who posted in this thread, forgive me if I missed you. And thanks for the tip on looking at the Facebook URL there Jeff. I found it in the "about" section and verified another member that way.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

Cool, I'll approve you both. We get a lot of spam requests, so it's often difficult to tell who's legit and who's not. I have about ten pending requests, but unless you email me thru dvdtalk, or message me thru Facebook, or post here, I usually just ignore since they usually end up as spammers.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

Question: if you post something in the Facebook group, do your regular Facebook friends see it? I belong to a CED group (where our pal Alan Smithee is a regular) and once posted something (wanted shelving suggestions). Apparently my Facebook friends were able to see it and I was mortified.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

What's up with the dude posting his latest purchases and, like, actual discussion over there? It's had more activity in the last week than it did in the last year.

I thought that group was for bitching about this place!

As long as you don't have hundreds of them...

But seriously I have hundreds of movies and I ain't ashamed of them. I displayed them with honor and nicely organized on bookshelves.
Its my In-law and friends and parents that sometimes roll their eyes at my collection.... oh wait they do probably think I'm a hoarder

I really think he's ashamed of asking friends for shelving advice.

The Facebook group is a closed group, so no outsiders can see it.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

I only have a handful of CEDs, and the player is in my living room. I guess I'm not ashamed of it, but I just didn't need my Facebook friends to see me asking a group for suggestions about a TV stand that could all my old electronics. I personally think it's really cool and I used to excitedly point out my LD, CED and Betamax players to people and tell them about it... but I've become conscious of the fact that nobody gives a shit and finds it even remotely interesting.

And yeah, the Facebook group is definitely public. For me that means that I will gladly be a member and read all your posts, but won't post or respond to anything myself.

Re: DVDTalkers Facebook Group

Never paid attention to the privacy settings. Not sure what's best.

Definitely don't want it to just be a place to bitch about this place, but generally don't censor anything either.
