Their regular flavors are quite tasty. Specifically their root beer, cream soda and green apple varieties.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I love Jameson with Pepsi.

The non-high corn fructose syrup Fago sodas are tasty, too.

Out here in L.A., there's a dope soda shop called Galcos. They have every soda imaginable. They also sell deli sandwiches.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/galcos-soda-...op-los-angeles

They sell craft beer, too.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Am I thread-crapping if I say soda sucks?

The only things I drink are water, beer, coffee and whiskey. I'll drink unflavored bubbled-water, but soda pop can eat a bag of dicks! It's like candy-water! What self-respecting adult drinks this shit?

I bet all the women who got married after you have husbands that drink soda too, like a normal person!

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Today I scored 6 12-packs of Mtn Dew Pitch Black for $20, with the extra bonus of a $5 gift card to use at Target. Good enough deal for me, and I'm set on Pitch Black for awhile.

It's 100% the same as I remember from 2003-04 (?) when I last had it...

It's your thread you are the one person who is allowed to come in here and complain about soda.

I don't give a shit about water, beer, coffee and whiskey. This is the soda thread. Start a separate thread for each.

Did we? We then, We don't need to revisit it.

Mellow Yellow Zero and Diet Sunkist are the only two I can almost get through. I still can't finish a full can of either. That's better than most. I can only get through a few sips of other diet drinks.

The kvass is pretty good. I can see why Russians like it.

Tried a can of Pepsi 1893 (regular not ginger) and thought it was alright to try but a bit too sweet and I don't think I'd get it regularly. I'll probably try the ginger kind too just for curiosity.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Diet Coke and Diet Mountain Dew are the only ones I drink.

I can't stand Diet Pepsi because it goes flat about 20 minutes after opening a can.

I like 1893. Both versions.

I like that it's only 12oz and only $1 at Walmart.

I was drinking a lot of this and also Pepsi One for about a year, but I started having bladder trouble. I did like it better than Diet by far (which has a nasty, nasty aftertaste to me). I gave up the sucralose and nutrasweet entirely, which helped, but the problems returned.

3-4 years later and some treatments and expensive meds, my bladder is much better, as long as I avoid certain foods (acidic stuff like OJ is the worst).

Artificial sweeteners are top of the list to me. Won't touch them with a 10-ft pole. I can't claim they caused my problem, but they definitely still irritate my bladder and I do have some concern about my reaction to them.

Unfortunately a LOT of pop has sucralose mixed in with the sugar...ugh...worst of both worlds. I have to check the back of each can. Worst offender is Faygo, all their normal pop has sucralose in it now except for the glass bottle stuff made with sugar. I don't know why they are mixing the stuff into pop that has hundreds of calories. Maybe it's cheap, like HFCS.

My favorite pop right now is the Mt Dew pitch black, I always loved grape pop. I'm also a fan of Bawls Cherry which isn't as caffeinated as an energy drink, so to me, it's more in the pop territory. Reminds me of Josta which I liked in the 90s.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Bought a bottle of Mountain Dew Pitch Black. I'm not sure if I've had it since it originally came out way back when. Its alright but still not really my favorite. I probably prefer regular the most and for the other flavor variants Code Red is my next favorite followed by Livewire. Baja Blast is alright but I get tired of it if I have it too often. I actually probably like the Mountain Dew Black Label over Pitch Black.

Manufacturers are putting sucralose in lots of non-diet foods, and never mention it on the label. We have to check the fine print on everything.

I'm trying to give up soda, but I tried this today and it's pretty good. It tastes kind of like ginger ale. I don't believe it has any relation to the NY Mets?

All hail Cheerwine, true King of American sodas.

I used to get the airplane-cans of Coke but frankly it's just much, much to sweet now. After about 1 oz. my stomach begins to churn.

The best soda I've ever had is Manzana Postobón (the pink bottle on the far right). It is sublime.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

After 10 Cloverfield Lane came out, I decided to buy a box of all six flavours of Swamp Pop.

They're based in Lafayette, Louisiana.

My impression of the flavours is:

Filé Root Beer - Excellent! Not my #1 root beer or anything, but it's good.
Ponchatoula Pop Rouge - Strawberry goodness. I'm not a fan of strawberry flavoured stuff in general (gum, candy, etc.), but this is delicious.
Noble Cane Cola - Unique, but after a few, I got a little sick of the flavour.
Satsuma Fizz - My new favourite orange-ish drink. Very tasty!
Praline Cream Soda - I like this one well enough, but my wife thinks the praline flavour is too strong.
Jean Lafitte Ginger Ale - Excellent when it's ICE COLD, and I really like the cucumber taste. It's got a bit of a 'burn' to it, if that makes sense. But, as it gets warm, it gets harder to enjoy.

Of all of the above, I'd buy the Root Beer, Strawberry, and Satsuma flavours again for sure. The rest are good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

I dig this:

It's tasty and helps settle the stomach after a heavy meal.
And I prefer the diet variety as it's far less sickeningly sweet.
(good for Moscow Mules)
They can be a little pricey though.
