Jackie Chan clears up rumors of his death

Jackie Chan clears the air on death hoax

BEIJING: Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan is sick of rumours that claim he has died.

“These few years, there have repeatedly been false news which has caused my fans and friends who care about me, to worry if I am dead!

“If I am really dead, I will definitely announce it,” said Chan, who took to his micro blog on Friday to prove that he is still alive and kicking.

“Tell everyone! Ha ha! To make people believe it, please look at the photo! Thank you for everyone’s concern and love!”

Chan accompanied his post with a photo of himself posing alongside a June 21 copy of a newspaper, and pointing at the date printed on it.

The 59-year-old actor expressed that he had been inundated with calls from concerned friends since he returned from India on Thursday after attending the inaugural Chinese Film Festival in New Delhi, and wanted to clear the air, in order to set their minds at ease.

I was not aware of these rumors but then again I am not on RenRen or Weibo.

I heard he died, then took that picture. Then rose from the dead.

I heard a HK funeral director is trolling the world by posing a dead body like that.

I hear he has a dead man's trigger that will cause Jeff Goldblum to fall off a cliff when he dies.

Until Jeff Goldblum posts a picture of himself holding a newspaper lets not speak ill of the dead, OK?

RIP Dr. Malcolm.

Re: Jackie Chan clears up rumors of his death

I heard Jackie Chan and Jeff Goldblum both died after falling off of a skyscraper that fell off a cliff. They shot a movie together in the afterlife then rose from the dead to premiere it at Cannes.

Tragically, they died soon after the credits rolled.

Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's martial arts and disavowing death notices.

Re: Jackie Chan clears up rumors of his death

Unless he leaps off a building holding onto a ladder, hooks the ladder onto the skids of a helicopter, does a triple-back-flip off the ladder to grab a flagpost, one-handedly circles the flagpost three times, and then lands in a standing position on the back of a motorcycle speeding underneath...

no sale.

I think the rumors were just that his career was dead...probably true.

The Rush Hour and Shanghai flicks are clearly intended for an American audience. However, although Rumble in the Bronx was made with the Canadian market in mind, it fits right at home with Jackie Chan's HK output.

Though I like the Rush Hour and Shanghai flicks, I wish all his American films had been more in like manner to Rumble in the Bronx.

Re: Jackie Chan clears up rumors of his death

The storylines are better in the films he made in the U.S. but the action sequence is nowhere close to that of the HK films. I refer you to the films starting 1982 with Project A all the way to 1994 Legend of Drunken Master II, the films in between are what I consider the best of Jackie Chan. They were filmed old school style where each hit, contact and fall are all real. Heck, even when he fell through a layer of hot burning coals in Drunken Master II, that was entirely real. Whereas once he entered the U.S. market, he started using wires, stunt doubles and CGI. It's a lost art in Holllywood.

Oh I understand what you mean. Although he did use some wires in Drunken Master II and City Hunter. It's what actually led to his falling out with the director's in each feature. And he used a stunt double in First Strike because he didn't know how to ride something. I forget if it was a motorcycle or what. Although I do believe he ended up doing the sequence himself and just told the director to keep shooting no matter how badly he fell.

Thanks. It's been so long since I last saw that movie so I had a hard time remembering.
