Anyone ever been to Costa Rica?
I'm going in August to volunteer at an animal reserve for three weeks. I'll be staying at a nearby resort - small bungalows complete with kitchen, etc.
Any tips or advice?

Should be another thread re:Costa Rica around here somewhere.
Anyway, spent 15 days backpacking in CR/Nicaragua two summers ago. Had a blast. Some must-dos, IMO: hike to top of the Cerro Chato volcano, then descend into its cone to swim in the lake (one of the most amazing experiences of my life...the hike is a killer); zipline (a ton of options in CR...but aim for the sites that have the most, and tallest, platforms); visit Arenal, an active volcano, and watch it erupt; perhaps spend a day (but no more than that) in San Jose...some incredible architecture and cool street art; take a shit-load of pics and post your best in this thread. Take the time to talk to the locals. Wonderful people there. |
