How Vegas Makes the News: Ends Strippers on a Truck

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...7DsGgD9BV0JBG4

I love how my city makes the national news, by a local strip club announcing it's going to stop it's advertising that consists of real-life strippers dancing inside a see-thru moving automobile.

AP has it wrong as this has been going on for the past month or two now. I'm surprised it took them this long to end it as a lot of people were offended that this is how the club would advertise it's business especially when children could've seen it.

The following link may be NSFW (there's no nudity), but this is what we got to witness on a daily basis for the past month:

Children can see a lot worse than that if they're wandering the strip from 10pm to 2am. Clever idea but I'm not surprised they shelved it.

Re: How Vegas Makes the News: Ends Strippers on a Truck

It's probably not due to whether this is illegal or not, but a traffic safety issue. Reminds me of those super-bright LED signs which were banned from several neighborhoods and then finally made a small comeback only after being placed in a very stipulated area.

Problem in both cases...is that the advertising is TOO EFFECTIVE.

I have no problem with it. Most men are adept at driving one-handed.

I'd like to see what the strippers would do if they got in a wreck.

Does Las Vegas not have seatbelt laws? I can't see how that would be legal to begin with.

Usually they are only for the driver or driver+front passenger.

Re: How Vegas Makes the News: Ends Strippers on a Truck

For a second, I thought it said they had found the strippers in my trunk, but then I re-read the headline and realized I still had time...

Nothing to see here people. Move along.

Wife and I just went to vegas a couple weeks ago. Personally I think I found the hooker card people more annoying and offensive. Long-live the stripper truck!

Why being a vehicle for hire would make you exempt from seat belt laws, I don't know.

probably no different than any other place that usually only require the driver and children to be wearing them. sort of like when you go in a limo or a bus, you don't wear them.

Really? Wow. WA and OR have seatbelt laws for everyone in a vehickle. There are very few exceptions. One is if you are in a car so old that it doesn't have rear seatbelts, and if you have more people in a vehicle than there are seatbelts, like in motorhomes. Buses are exempt, but that's about it. Limos aren't, but if you get pulled over, you have time to put your seatbelt on before the cop sees you.

so if that's the case, how to children not get ticketed for riding on school buses that don't have seat belts.

You quoted me as saying that buses were exempt.

Nevada's traffic laws allow for exceptions, such as a vehicle going no more than 15MPH between stops and the driver/passengers are frequently exiting the vehicle. A postal carrier vehicle for example, would be exempt. I'm not sure how fast this vehicle in LV goes, but I kinda think it's safe to say it's 15MPH or less and it's moving only on the major strips, and in the evening hours when traffic is at its highest.

And another example would be you're an employer who's picking up a bunch of guys for daily work. The practicality of everyone wearing belts. This practicality would fall under a state's compliance test which would question the practicality of the law under certain conditions.

For example, it would be pointless for an officer to issue violations to delivery truck drivers in the city who get in and out of their vehicles dozens of times a day, and never even get on the highway. But if they WERE on the highway...and no belt on...then they would be cited.

In this particular LV case, the women are technically "for-hire", because they are getting on a vehicle and establishing work potential. The vehicle is going at a low-rate of speed.

FYI, the state has a secondary enforcement law, which means you cannot get cited for a seat belt infraction unless you've committed another infraction.

OR may still have that. WA made it a primary infraction about a year ago, or so.

The one in Spokane is just the opposite. Though I assumed the 3 pretty ones were on vacation.

Not that a C-section scar isn't sexy.
