I also think you are out of line. Police are hired to "Protect and Serve." They are the first line of defense against criminals and if that line is broken and lessened, then your ass is going to be in greater danger. Got to keep our defenses strong against the enemy.

Based on the usual attitude towards cops in this forum, I'm surprised this thread isn't on page 15 filled with praise and adoration towards the killer.

Re: Police officer murdered; am I out of line?

Wouldn't you take it personally and maybe do everything you could if someone was trying to kill you? I think that would be natural for everyone, regardless of job or profession.

I'm also not implying that cops general slack off or don't care about crimes unless they're the target either.

Re: Police officer murdered; am I out of line?

If it wasn't a traffic stop, it was probably a targetted killing. It's possible that the cop was involved in illegal/illicit activity.

About a year ago here in Broward County, an off-duty, non-uniformed cop was driving with his 12 year old daughter (unmarked car) and got involved in a road rage incident (someone cut off someone else). He got out of his car, got in the civilian's grill, yelling and screaming, turned around to leave, and was promptly shot in the head.

Before I continue, this was a horrific act and I am not in any way condoning the murder of anyone, police or otherwise.

IMMEDIATELY local Sherrif's office was screaming how he was killed "in the line of duty" and diverted all resources imaginable to find the "cop killer".

If this were you or I shot in the head, I guarantee you the resources spent would be fraction of this response, at BEST.

Not at all. Your post seemed to indicate some pretty big disdain for police officers (perhaps authority in general). Given that I was wondering what your contribution to our society is.

It's also possible that this was secretly an alien abduction gone awry.

Do you have any basis for this cretinous sort of speculation, other than paranoid delusions about police?

What my contribution is for society? I work for a living, pay my taxes, am a "model citizen" (absolutely clean criminal record), volunteer, and am actively involved in my community.

A police officer contributes no more than a sanitation worker. Their lives are no more sacred than anyone else's.

I've never understood the mind frame of a cop's death being more sacred than anyone else, and personally in my book, someone willing to kill a random person is no less dangerous than someone willing to kill a cop.

If more resources are devoted to solving a police officer's murder, then I can see where someone would say that's at least indirectly saying a police officer's life is more sacred.

I did since the media always treats it like it's the worst kind of murder and I have encountered people that do believe a cop being killed is more serious than any other death.

"Cretinous sort of speculation"... I kind of like the ring to that. Then again, I sorta choose to step out of the circle instead of volunteering to be the Blue Wall pivot man. In my opinion, your average cop is corrupt and morally deficient until proven otherwise.

Just my opinion. Am I boggin ya? Didna mean to bog ya.

I personally think the cops should hold back a bit on this investigation, maybe even ignore leads and evidence -- just so there's no chance they'll be accused of favoritism.

The law does that too (first degree murder in many jurisdictions is triggered for murdering a law enforcement officer), but there are plausible arguments for why the law is set up that way.

That's your opinion. That's not the law in most (if not all states), and it's not the law in the federal government. In every jurisdiction I know, it's a more serious crime to kill a government servant in the performance of their duty.

If you can't get over your distaste for police long enough to realize that, yes, it IS more serious for somebody to murder a police officer, or a judge, or a prosecutor in the line of duty, that's fine, but the vast majority of legislators seem to disagree with you.

I guarantee you that if a judge had been blown up for doing his job, or a prosecutor gunned down, the same efforts would be made. Society doesn't work at all when you let people start murdering government servants for the performance of their job. It's not just police... lots of government employees, like mail carriers and teachers, enjoy additional protections.

I understand from your past postings that our secret police society has banded together to pull you over multiple times FOR NO REASON AT ALL© and THROUGH NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN©, so that probably colors your viewpoint past all reason. Poor, poor victim.
