Job listings that ask for your photo

What is up with job postings that ask you to submit your photo? Is this a legitimate request for a job? Like this one:

Why do they need to know what you look like? Or are they just looking for a rent boy and the job is just a cover?

Dude just wants some eye candy. Anyone who takes that job is just asking to be used in strange, sometimes magical, ways.

(Though being able to put "CO-DIRECTOR OF FUN!" on your resume may be worth it.)

I had a job interview last week where they took my photo to attach to my application. They said they needed the photos since they were interviewing so many people for the job, they'd remember what the applicants looked like when matching up everything...

They discriminate by race, gender, and age (and anything else they feel like using, like religious affiliation) in Japan when it comes to hiring. The picture can make it easy to spot people they feel won't fit in.
