PS2 console sold but not paid for on eBay.

This is my predicament, my own fault i'll admit.

I sold my ps2 console on the 24th but the buyer hasnt paid for it yet, Im now feeling that i still want it as now i'll have nowhere to play God of War 1 and 2, i'll have to sell those as my PS3 is the newer non-backwards compatible model. I thought i can just deal with not playing GOW but that is hard to do.

So how do i go about letting the buyer know not to buy the console, should i make up an elaborate story and most importantly can the buyer actually access the feedback section and leave me negative feedback before he's actually completed checkout?

There must be alot of people rolling their eyes and trust me i feel like an idiot.

Any suggestions, has anyone been in this situation? Even going as far as letting a buyer know that you still want your listing?

PS. Please move this thread if it doesnt belong in this section.

Cheers.

Never been in that situation. You should honor your obligation to sell to him/her as they are honored to pay you. But trying to contact the buyer and tell them you changed your mind and your reason. I don't know if the buyer can give you feedback before they pay. My inclination is to say no, not until they paid but I'm not sure.

Which model was it? I'd just go buy a new slimline when they drop the price again.

Sell it. Honor your obligation. It's the right thing to do.

*Devil's Advocate* Tell him there was an error in the description and to be safe you are refunding his purchase.

Its a lot better than some of the lies I've received, like the item was stolen before being shipped out.

Let him buy the big fat bulky version from you, then take that money and put it towards a slim PS2.

Problem solved.

+1

Plus you're getting a newer model, new warranty, probably runs cooler, integrated components for cost reduction will probably last longer, etc.

$85 + the shipping is $15. But as i've said he hasnt paid for it just yet and now its been 4 days since he's clicked 'buy it now'. With any luck he's the one who's changed his mind or found a cheaper ps2 console around.

I have actually had a situation where i've sold something to someone who never paid up and was making excuses for over a week and a half until i finally gave up asking. If this guy doesnt go through with the payment im not going to take out a payment dispute as im the one who didnt want to really sell it.

You didnt look at my location, did you mate? This is what im looking at spending in Australia. http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/Produ...sole_(Slimline)

On eBay every slimline PS2 is over $100 in Australia so i'll be losing money. If he doesnt go through with the sale, good. If he does, its my own fault for not being absolutely sure that i wanted to sell it.

New PS3 models are no longer backwards compatible? Why did they do this? I'm much less likely to ever buy one now, not that I had any immediate plans too.

The newer model PS3's arent backwards compatible thats correct. I think Sony removed the function that allows you to play PS/2 games in the older models from the newer models as they figured that they would be losing money by keeping that funciton in the newer models which just sucks.

Since I've never ebayed, how long do you have to wait before ebay lets you assume he's never going to pay?

I believe the seller has to wait at least 7 days after the sale to file a dispute and the buyer has up to another 7 days to respond.

It depends. My most recent deadbeat bidder had such a bad record that Ebay suspended (or terminated, I can't tell) his account. So when I filed the Unpaid Item dispute at 7 days out, Ebay immediately refunded my Final Value Fee.

The guy got back to me and let me know that he'll pay for it on monday or tuesday and pick it up on friday. Slimline (not big and bulky) PS2's come reletively cheap anyway so i can buy another one so no big deal.
