What's new on the Howard Stern Show?

I don't have Sirius, how is the show going? I miss it sometimes.

Is Artie Lange dead yet? He didn't really quit a few months ago, did he?

I saw a commercial for the Stern channel and thought I saw Richard Simmons, did they finally make up?

Any big things happen recently? I know Stern got married. All the regulars still with the show?

- Artie went back on drugs about 2 months ago, he is clean now - doesn't drink.

- Howard made up with Chevy Chase (great interview)

-All regulars are still there

- Check out marksfriggin or howardstern.com they have good recaps of the show.

How could someone be on drugs only two months ago, but clean now? I'd guess that he's clean for now, knowing him. Last time I saw him on T.V., he looked like shit-- extremely overweight and worn out. He was always a "big guy," but he'd really let himself go, last I saw.

I don't listen to Howard regularly, but I stopped on it for a little bit while driving on Friday. Artie was on in the middle of one of the Brady girls and Christian Slater talking about his new show.

I thought he had walked out and quit over the summer?

I've seen him. He's like fire, and ice, and rage. Like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the center of time and sees the turn of the univrse.

Howard kisses Artie's ass so much - the guy could set his house on fire and Howard would defend him by saying that when Artie sets a fire it is funny, when others do it it is arson.

The guy gets away with murder, he can come and go as he pleases, do drugs - not show up for work, fall asleep on the air, and there are never any consequences.

My boss has Sirius, and listens sometimes, but he said the show is nowhere near as good as it used to be. He said they hardly ever get good people on.

What's new?

Let's see, Howard constantly talks about his celebrity ass kiss wedding (Chevy Chase, seriously?) Pimping Beth Ono on all sorts of talk shows.

It's practically un-listenable at this point.

Yeah, I used to think so until I heard Ron and Fez. I had to give up XM to save money and I miss Ron Bennington. I can't say the same for O and A.

How has Deftones not stopped in to tell everyone that Howard is still on top and just as relevant as he ever was, and that you suck for not knowing?

I was thinking of picking up the Sirius Best of station to check out Howard again, but I just haven't felt motivated. I really don't even listen to O&A anymore. If it wasn't for Ron and Fez I probably would drop satellite radio completely.

My year of half price XM is up Oct. 31st. I won't renew at the full price. Doubt I'll bother at the new half price when they offer it again in 3 months.

And my only other option is 3 local stations. One is country, one is AM talk, and the other is AM old home crap from the 40s.

I think Howard is still going strong, but yes the vacations and 4 day work week do get annoying. In the long run who cares, he is on air everyday for over 4 hours, he's got a great crew around him that generate great bits and no matter how much Artie tries to help himself, he is still a f-up.

I had heard Ron & Fez off and on for a year, but about a year ago started to listen them everyday.. They put on a great show. Ron has some of the best lines ever

Agreed. For me it's worth listening to the show just to hear Sal and Richard's bits/prank calls.
I wish Howard would play more of their stuff instead of holding it back.

It's amazing how into the show you can become. I tape the damn thing everyday, and if my recording gets screwed up it really bugs me. Luckily there are places to get the show, as I have found recently, in case my recording doesn't work.

The Sour Shoes call last week is an instant classic, I've listen to it at least 15 times already.

I was listening the last week Stern's show was an actual "radio" show before the jump to Sirius when they had Jackie on for a segment. Hearing Jackie give Gary hell and interact with Howard reminded me of how good the show used to be. I always thought Artie was too big a presence, sometimes it seemed like the Artie Lang show featuring Howard Stern.

Anyway, that helped in the decision to not buy into satellite radio (yet).

See, I fall into the opposite camp. Can't stand listening to the shows from Jackie's era, but I love Artie on the show.

And I fall into the catagory of appreciating the vacations. I record to listen in the evening, and I will listen to the entire show, which usually takes about two days. Friday off and vacations allow me to keep from falling months behind.

But if I listened live, it would definetely irritate me not to have new shows all the time.

Artie is good, but more in a Trainwreck kind of way. Jackie was plain funny. He could be obnoxious, but he had talent.
