Obesity -- and diabetes as a result -- is a huge problem in the Mexican community. Look at a couple of the staples in the diet: refried beans, tortillas. That's a lot of fat and cholesterol. I live on the border and you should see all the people who buy the big buckets of lard to cook with.

When I worked at one of the newspapers down here, we were always running stories about the high diabetes rates.
