Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

MY all-time favorite potato chips are Zapp's - excellent, and unique. I've never had any other chips that are close to being as good. The company is out of LA, but they're available in some other places as well. I believe you can get them online if you can't find them in stores.

I love 'em. I think they have tremendous flavor. Now the Carolina Reaper chip they did... that was just fucking hot.

World Market usually carries them, though they generally only have the Cajun Crawtator and Voodoo flavors.

Around here, they are fairly easy to find in specialty and independent grocery stores. We still stock up when we visit my wife's family in LA because they carry much larger bags at much lower prices down there.

Potbelly has carried their chips for years, and they currently offer a "Potbelly Hot Peppers" flavor that may be a restaurant exclusive. They aren't as hot as the bag makes them sound, and they also have a strange sweetness to them, but they aren't bad.

Good to know - Thanks. I have a World Market in my area, though haven't been there in a while.

I'm pretty sure they're owned by Utz now. I can get them at the factory store in Hanover, PA. The Voodoo Heat flavor is perhaps my favorite potato chip.

I grabbed the Bacon wrapped Jalapeno Popper flavor instead. Not bad, but not great either. I'll give the Taco a go next.

Won Ton Chips from Hawaii. Different but great.

Bought a small bag of these last night:

The checkout clerk said, "If I ever see you again, you'll have to tell me how these are."

I told him I had them a year ago, and they were pretty intense.

I love these chips ... especially the bottom of the bag ... I open the bag upside down ... much hotter ... I've built up a tolerance to these chips ... I can eat a whole 5.5 oz bag without drinking anything

Who wouldn't prefer an actual taco-flavored tortilla chip over a taco-flavored potato chip? The concept is quite oxymoronic.

Still, might be worth a gander for shits and giggles, but only on sale at ~$2 per bag for Lays.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I hated the Taco chips. There was something really off putting about the flavor. I think I was expecting more of the taco spice flavor, but they may have captured too much of the fresh veggie essence and that bothered me.

Went to a store looking for the Crispy Taco chips. All they had was the Everything Bagel. I'll try one more store that's listed on their Find A Snack locator.
