Over $6 per bag? I think you just gave zyzzle a heart attack.

Yikes! Indeed. The best tortilla chips are those that are thin, served piping hot, with a bit of salt and chili pepper, at one of those great Mexican joints of which there are many close to me. I gorge on those when I'm dining at such a place, to the extent that I'm nearly full on them before the main plato is served.

My limit on "store bought" tortilla chips is $2 per bag. Still, sales happen often enough to not make this a lost cause. The problem, of course, is that the bags keep shrink, shrink, shrinking... so that $2 only buys about 8-9 oz where a mere 5 years ago, it bought 13-14 oz.

Found these at Whole Foods. Really good.

They also have a new All Dressed flavor that I haven't tried yet.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

Found this guy at Sam's Club today, first time I've seen Paqui's there. A whopping 22oz bag for $4.50 (reg. $6.50). They also had a Buffalo Ranch flavor I haven't seen before. Normally I'd grab both, but 44oz of chips would be overkill. And yes, the bag is nearly as big as my countertop.

A normal bag runs $3.50 around here for 5.5oz. $4.50 for 22oz is insane.

The LATE JULY brand of tortilla chips is really good. The Quinoa / Chia and the Sea Salt / Lime are great with home made salsa.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I bought a bag earlier. I'll probably take it for lunch tomorrow. I'll report back.

There are also three new Doritos flavors in what seems like at least 5 years. Chipotle, BBQ and Poppin' Jalapeno something or other. I grabbed the two spicy ones. I'll grab the BBQ after I finish these two. The Chipotle ones are pretty good.

They were fantastic. Found them at a gas station, btw. Grab bag size only.

I have found the locator isn't correct all of the time, and keep an eye out for changes. A newer product like the Chipotle Ranch Cheetos will likely have wider distribution soon.

Yeah, I fully expect to see it at a local grocery store or something. Just keeping an eye out.

The locator told me these cheetos weren't available within 50 miles of me but I found them about one mile down street.

I hope you're not talking about a peppermint pattie the size of a cake. That's way too much. Just top a regular chocolate cake with a layer of regular patties.

I haven't bought a bag of Fritos in years but saw some in jalapeno flavor yesterday.

Pretty good.

A peppermint pattie the size of a cake would be a sight - but the cake with a layer of patties is kinda what I am looking for

Found the Chipotle Ranch Cheetos today at Ralphs. Not bad, the extra ranch flavor is noticeable and i'm glad that it's a little different from the regular one. I'd buy more just to mix it up.

My wife has been really in to the Flamin' Hot Ruffles too.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

Tried the new Doritos Chipotle/heat chips.
Meh. They were alright, but unremarkable, and not as good as, say, the spicy nacho.
It tasted like they threw together their taco seasoning, with cool ranch and the sweet chili, added a bit of spice and called it a day. There was no actual chipotle flavor to them at all.

The chipotle-ranch cheetos however were awesome. They definitely tasted like chipotle should, and had a pretty strong spice to them.

Bought a bag of those last weekend. I only ate one. Could have powered through the heat if they tasted good, but it was a horrible tasting chip.
