PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: "Not safe for work" rules -- NSFW tag now available

Since the splitting off of the Adult Forum to www.xcritic.com there has been a lot of confusion over what is allowed in the Other Forum (and on DVDtalk in general). After much deliberation with owners, DVDtalk admins and Other Forum moderators the following rules were decided upon. Please take time to look over them and get a feel for is or isn't allowed.

Thanks

Quote:
1) All uncensored words are allowed in threads. Words and abbreviations for those words that you wouldn't say to your grandmother are not allowed in titles. Stories and jokes are ok, as long as they don't get into explicit sexual detail (or detail extremely perverted, harmful acts). Individual posts may be removed if deemed to be too tasteless or offensive.

2) No threads of an explicit sexual nature.

3) No nude or explicit, sexually-suggestive pictures, no links to nude pictures, no links to sites primarily having a sexual theme (excluding XCritic.com in general, however don't link to specific threads, forums, or anything else there).

4) No male or female appreciation threads based primarily on pictures of them.

5) No pictures that a member could reasonably be called on to explain if overseen in the office by a co-worker or boss, or in the home by a spouse. We're not assuming that the member works in the Vatican nor, on the other extreme, are we assuming the member is married to a pornstar. If the picture is "iffy", link it with a NSFW notation.

6) These rules are not exhaustive. This site reserves the right to change the aforementioned rules at any time without warning or notice. It is the responsibility of the forum member to check this page on a regular basis for any revisions in these rules before making any posts to the forum.

7) If you're not sure, email or PM a mod.
EDIT: Just an FYI there is now a NSFW tag available.

NSFW:
It's just like the spoiler tag but w/ a different label

Just use [ nsfw ] and [ /nsfw ] w/o the blanks.

No, it's not just about one person and the pictures mostly kept to the rules (some pictures were removed however).

Unfortunately the issue we always seem to run into with threads dedicated to only one person is that of someone having to find the largest, most risque image they can of that person and then someone else trying to top that.

So this means the porno-like advertisements are gone?

Well, Mods, you guys better close down the thread in which that girl is holding The Hulk's penis. That actually does go against the new forum rules, right? Yay!

Fair enough.....as long as I have a place to post an occasional Ann Coulter and Tina Fay pic.

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing crap like that. I assumed I clicked on a "similar" review or something.

Agreed on the pics of raunchy DVD covers and the like. But if those are still going to be posted than the rules change is totally useless.

You can't have a thread dedicated to "one" person?

You can if that person is schizophrenic.

So that means no more "Someone" passed away threads unless a bunch of people die together.

No more threads about any individual politicians, only the entire group.

No more "Welcome" someone threads.

No more "Photochop my friends" threads.

No more "Gee something bad happened to me" threads.

And hopefully no more "My cat something or other" threads.

And maybe no more Bandoman threads.

or Edit King

hmmm...maybe I can live with the rules.

Is it ok if we spoilerize it?

And what about gun threads? Geoff said that the previous policy was his decision but that the new owners would have to decide for themselves if they wanted to be that closed minded.

PS - Does the cover for "Party 7" which is showing above not violate the new rules even though there is a half naked girl grabbing her crotch? (I can still say crotch, right?)

Since there is no chance of that being seen as sexual, I think it is okay.

Well as long as a fake green penis is not allowed and a gay stereotyping thread is, these new rules are great!

Exactly the type of thing all gay people say.

I would say "no". If you spoilerize NSFW pictures, the pictures are actually still downloaded, and will show up in your cache, and can get you in trouble if someone is monitoring your web surfing.

I don't know how much of a problem that would be for our members, but there is the issue of just what you stated and it was considered during the formulation of the rules.

In a strict environment it's safer to have to click on a link that's marked as NSFW to get the image into your browser's cache. But then the images that are allowed here, even if they're marked NSFW, shouldn't be so bad that they would cause a problem if they were found in somebody's cache. We're more concerned about what pops up on someone's monitor without any warning.
