Once again, there's really no change with respect to what's allowed in Other. People are trying to post things in Other that don't belong here and haven't belonged here, at least as long as I've been posting here. Then they act like there's some change to the policy of what is allowed here, when there isn't a change.

I think people are upset they can't post these things, but then see porn like pictures at the top of the screen. I know it bothers me and haven't really posted here because of it.

btw, I think most of us mods see this as a loosening of the current rules, not a tightening.

Many things (R rated pics) are still not allowed, but other things that would have gone to the Adult forum are allowed now - like the oldest virgin thread.

Let's say I used to have a washer and dryer combo, and got used to being able to wash and dry my clothes in the same spot. One day, it was stolen, and my insurance company only gave me enough money to get a washer. If we're just talking about how the washer functions, then yes there is no change. I guess the analogy would be if you occasionally tried to dry your clothes in the washer. Your roommate used to move them over to the dryer for you where they belonged, only now they just dump them on the floor because you don't have a dryer anymore.

I appreciate the efforts to clarify the rules. I also appreciate the hard work the mods have been doing.

But you do see why people are confused: Geoff posts a celebrity bikini photo and it gets deleted, Mrs Danger posts a suggestive drawing of feet and she get reprimanded, but (after some discussion) the Hulk member is allowed. The Hulkster, no matter how funny, is not safe for Amazon.

All the porn content is still here, for all intents and purposes. The fact that is it technically on a different site means nothing. The way to access it is exactly the same as it was before the switch.

I'm not a prude that wants to suppress free speech, but I'm just saying that it is silly and disingenuous to say that dvdtalk is more family-friendly since the porn was moved. It wasn't moved, it is still here.

If that starts to drive people away it's up to IB to decide what they want to do about it.


EDIT: I mean when you post threads like this This thread is safe for work what else are we supposed to think. Talk about being condescending

Was it condescending? Perhaps, but only after mods have verbally dressed down posters for the past four days on these forums. Plus, it was funny, as evident by the many responses.

The rules haven't really changed. Threads like the Slayer threads would be allowed, but just like those threads, details aren't allowed. When Slayer started delving into particular techniques or whatever, it was cut out. His constant begging for sex was allowed

I believe what they are referring to is that the rules, as written, have not really changed. There was a bit of additional latitude given some material when there were porn review covers plastered in the adult forum AND on the main review page but the rules themselves were pretty much the same (the recent clarification provided dealt primarily with the level of enforcement).
