Which of these would you pick for Valentine's Day?
https://www.bernsteakhouse.com/admin...ad/bshmenu.pdf
http://www.ckstampa.com/menu.htm http://www.catchtwentythree.com/Catch23_MenuFront.pdf http://www.saltrockgrill.com/menuframe.html http://www.thecapitalgrille.com/menu...inCourses.asp? http://www.roysrestaurant.com/pdf/se...mber/tampa.pdf http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/#menu http://www.talkofthetownrestaurants....ampa_menu.html http://www.ruthschris.com/menu/entrees.html First 4 are local, and the first 2 are legendary. Salt Rock is the only one we have been to before, about 20 times, and it is my favorite restaurant ever. Any other suggestions in the Tampa area are welcome.

What about Restaurant BT in Old Hyde?
I've been to the second or third ever Roy's in Maui and it was pretty good. I'd pick something local. |

Never having been out on Valentine's day, I picked Ruth's Chris because we have one in Portland and I've heard awesome things about it.

Depends on who you're taking.
I'd take the wife the Ruth's Chris and the girl friend to The Capital Grill. ....preferably 3 hours between 'em ![]()

Where's the "none of the above, you un-romantic dork" option?
Go to a French restaurant, or a chocolatier. |

I'm from DC, so I haven't heard of all of these . . .
but the Captial Grille or Flemings would be my picks.

Ruth's Chris - Average steak served in sizzling butter. Skip, IMO.
Not familiar with the others, other than Roy's... |

Capital Grille is (sadly) the most chic and popular with the younger crowd.
Fleming's is also a good place, but it's for an older demographic. I'm surprised that those are the best steakhouses in Tampa. I'd try to find one of the slightly nicer ones that are better known for their seafood. |

For the price of dinner at an upscale steakhouse, you might very well be able to travel somewhere to take advantage of this:

since you hope to get laid afterwards, i'd avoid a steakhouse and look for something ligher
and avoid Ruth Chris. they went public 2 years ago and i've heard it's mostly hype. even the menu says corn fed beef which is pretty bad for the prices they charge |

I guess I should have given some background. My GF is an extremely picky eater, so anything super adventurous, odd, etc. is off the map. That's why most of the places I listed are meat and seafood, those are "safe" for me to take her to. I would be up for any suggestions on a great Italian restaurant, if anyone has one.

I was going to say don't do it, because all the restaurant are going to be full, a lot of couples, there'll be competition who's the most in love, etc.
But since it's your GF, then I guess you have to suffer through that. I wouldn't do that for my wife. ![]() |
