There's a bit of misinformation going on in that thread with regards to this. I suspect that it's mostly due to the users there not being familiar with the online gaming industry.

What's going on is that the idiot in question advertised his own link to his own site (truepokerdeal.com) which was nothing but a redirect to absolutepoker.com with a nice affiliate tag attached to the URL.

This clown does not own Absolute Poker but instead spams his site in order to get people to sign up for Absolute Poker with him being the referrer and thus, getting a % of the cut that Absolute Poker makes in rake from whomever signs up under his link.

It had nothing to do with the computer, but the fact that his homepage and he site he was advertising had the same, unmasked, whois registrant. Now if he just masked his registration info before spamming...
