I drove through Gary, IN last week on the way home from Chicago Midway. There are definitely people there, at least on the expressway.

My wife told me this story about (I think) Gary, where the CoC wanted to promote it as a convention spot. Problem was, all the hotels in the downtown charged hourly rates.
