Rant. My package got within 10 miles of my house and was out for delivery. Next thing I know, it's taking a short vacation in Jacksonville, Florida. Idiots. How did it get to an airport?

I bought something from Woot.com which was shipped from Texas and went to San Diego before coming to me.

The packages are simply going to where the selected agents are stationed who get to open mail and packages without a warrant (Bush law). It's easier and cheaper than having more agents all over the U.S.

Maybe our recent ice coatings of all trees, building and vehicles scared your poor package away and that is why it headed south to Florida.

Today isn't looking too bad so it may decided to stay and be delivered.

Finally, it came, about 6:30 PM.

I won a neat lot of fountain pens that some guy (who knows nothing about pens) got from an estate sale. 10 pens and a nice wooden case for $30. As is typical from that situation, the pens were dirty, full of dried ink, etc. So I've been washing pens all night while gloating over my "treasure."

No super expensive pens here, but if they clean up and write OK, 8 of the 10 are each worth $20-30 each, maybe more. But I'll probably decide to keep most of them. I actually wanted the box for my existing pens, the new pens were just a bonus. Now, I need another pen case (empty this time)
