Car Radio Question: AUX input?

My girlfriend has a 2002 Chevy Malibu with a factory stereo in it. The console has a button on it that says "CD / AUX". Does that mean that there's a connection available to hook up a CD changer or another AUX device like a Bluetooth adapter or something similar?

Generally. I'd go to Crutchfield.com ... you can tell it exactly what model of car you have, and it will tell you everything that is compatible with your factory stereo.

I have the same button on my car, and the aux port was actually in the console. I don't have the same car, but just figured I would give that info as a point of reference.

Because the button is there does not necessarily mean there is an aux input.

I would bet the aux. would be the selection for a factory CD changer.

My F150 has an AUX input button on the factory stereo that was designed to connect to the optional DVD unit.

I was able to get a harness from these guys to allow my XM radio to be selected by the AUX button. Works great, and was easy to insall.

there probably is a connector in the back if you pull the unit out.

Usually the AUX input is on the rear of the unit; some newer ones have a front input. You could get a cable to hook up an mp3 player too.

It really depends. It could be for a factory CD changer (that wasn't installed on your particular trim line) or it could be on the back of the radio, usually requiring an adapter to get it to the standard RCA or 1/8 jack.

look in the manual. it might tell ya. on my car, the aux port is a mini jack in the glove box.
