Greenville / Spartanburg SC - Need Suggestions
Can somebody from this neck of the woods chime in and let me know if there is anything vacationesq to do down there?
I'm thinking about attending an event in the area, but if I can I'd like to trip to be more than the event as it doesn't seem worthwhile to travel all that distance (gas, lodging, etc.) just for one thing. Thanks!

Where is the event located and when are you going? That will give me a better idea of what's going on while you are in SC.
There isn't much as far as touristy attractions go in the GSP area. If you like to play golf, there are several excellent courses in the area. You can take a tour of the BMW plant and head out to their test track for some high speed fun. There is a new water park in Greenville if you are so inclined. There are minor league baseball & hockey games in Greenville as well. You could visit the Beacon in Spartanburg for a grease colonic in the form of a cheeseburger not to mention the sweetest tea in the south. The majority of the fun things to do in Greenville/Spartanburg involve the outdoors. Road Biking, Mountain Climbing, Horseback Riding, Camping, etc...

Well I was thinking of the driving school at the BMW center, so that should give you an idea of location.
Miniorleague baseball game may be a good way to go.

The premier thing to do is tempt the students of Bob Jones with sin!

You can drink a lot on Sundays now as well as long as the bar is in city limits and pays for a Sunday liquor sales license.
I second the suggestion for the Greenville Drive minor league baseball (Red Sox affiliate). Main Street in Greenville has a lot of interesting restaurants, shops, galleries, etc. Falls park is a nice place to spend an hour or two relaxing. On the weekends, there is a free trolley that goes up and down the popular areas. If you're into outdoorsy stuff you can drive an hour to Paris Mountain or Table Rock both of which have good hiking Trails and it is gorgeous up at Table Rock. Bob Jones University's only redeeming feature is the beautiful art gallery on campus. Greenville-Spartanburg isn't bustling with activity, but it's not bad for a small city. Here are a few links: http://www.greatergreenville.com/ General Directory http://www.fallspark.com/ Falls Park http://www.greenvilledrive.com/ Greenville Drive

I was going to suggest just driving up to Charlotte. Go to Carrowinds, catch a Bobcats game, hang out downtown, etc...
