...EMPIRE!!!!!!!

Anyone every used them for carpet? I was surprised at how few opinions I could find about them on the Internet.

We decided to go ahead and use them for two rooms I just finished in the basement (one being my new dedicated home theater, schwing!). Their prices were good and the salesguy that came to the house was very good. They give you one price per square yard, pad, installation and taxes included. No hidden costs.

My biggest complaint so far as that their color selection is not the best within each carpet category, but they do install next day and (in an obvious attempt to get you to pull the trigger without shopping around further) give you an additional 10% off if you choose to do so or an additional 5% if you choose to install within a week. Home Depot and Lowes need 4-6 weeks of lead time to install. I did look at one carpet store but they had very little I liked at the lower price points and wanted 2-3 weeks lead time.

We'll see how they do. The job in the HT is a little tricky due to the riser with an inset step.

They seem to be a bit pricey for wood flooring.

A friend of mine called them for wood flooring and they quoted him $7,000+ and that was not even for real wood floors.

Home Depot wanted $3,700 for real hard wood installed.

So I guess it pays to shop around first then call them.

How many sq. ft? And what do you mean by 'not for real'? Laminate?

I think that they wanted hard wood. The only hard wood that they had was 1/2" thick with a partical wood base, however Home Depot had the solid wood that was 1 1/4" thick.

As for Sq Ft .... hmmmm... I'd guess 350 SQ ft.

I used them for my basement. Not much of a selection but I didn't have to wait a week for the measurment and then another 3 weeks for the carpet like Home Depot wanted me to do (of and did I mention that I had to pay for that estimate). I got the sales person to come to my house and give me an estimate the day I called and carpet 2 days later. The price wasn't bad but the timeliness and convienence gave them a plus in my book.
