Doctor says I need a hot lube. What to look for?

Doctor says I need a hot tub. He also wants to put me on pills. I resisted last time, but a year later I have decided to give them a try. But he said the hot tub would do me the most good. My insurance doesn't believe me, so I will be buying one on my own.

What to look for? What to avoid?

I would look for one that holds water and can effectivly heat the water.....

Avoid hot tubs that leak or smell like piss.....

Out of curiosity, do you need one for back pain or something similar?

As for what to look for - hell as a single guy I'd look for one that can hold the most women. As a married guy though, I'm assuming you have different criteria you're after.

My parents had a Nordic Spa hot tub and had nothing but problems with it.

I guess I'd look for one that has contour seating options for your comfort and the jets in the desired locations. It'd be nice to have the hot water jets hit the sore areas of your back/neck.

Consider a home sauna instead for those aches and pains. Hydrotherapy is good, but deep, penetrating heat can't be beat! Our internet company specializes in them.

Have you thought about a Jacuzzi tub? I don't like to stay anywhere on vacation without one, they're great. A hot tub is probably cheaper than bathroom construction, though.

I'd fight with your insurance company, though!

That's a losing battle. I pay them about $12,000 a year, and go to the doctor once a year. You'd think they'd finally pay up a little, but not a chance.

At least get your doc to write a letter prescribing the hot tub. You may be able to deduct it on your taxes, depending on how much other income you can hide. I think your total medical bills need to be >6% AGI.
