How bad is Lymphoma Cancer?

I just heard my step mom has this all over her body(lymphs I guess) and to be supportive for my dad I was wondering if this is a more treatable type of cancer or a really bad one like stomach or esophagus? I figured someone here may know, as all I get in search engines is natural remedy scams.

I believe there is Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Do you know which kind it is?

Datapoint: My father-in-law beat non-Hogkins lymphoma 16 years ago. He's still in remission.

but thanks to modern medicine.. some of them have extremely high recovery rates (close to 100%).. where others are more serious and have very low rates..

you hear about lots of people who get hodgkins and recover completely.. as long as they catch it in time

The American Cancer Society has a lot of information that might be helpful to you as well. You can either visit their website at www.cancer.org or call them at 1-800-ACS-2345. They have people there to talk to you 24/7 and can really walk you through everything you might need to know.

I have a nephew who had Hodgkin's and a friend who had non-Hodgkin's. Both are in remission. Catching it early is the key.

My uncle is going thru this now. Not sure which it is. He's having to get platelets weekly since his body is slow to produce.

Problem is my Stepmom is the all natural type and had not gotten a check up in many years. She has complained about this pain for over year to her chiropractor, so it seems to me it got a good year start on her. So we didnt surely catch it early but I'm not sure if a year late is disastrous either. Great to hear some folks recovered!

You'll want to know the stage and specific type of lymphoma for accurate information. Otherwise, what people suggest the progosis is, is worthless.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's in 1990, went through radiation treatments and diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's in 1999. (They actually attributed the cause of the second to how the treatment of the first was done, back at that time). Anyway, it's five years later and I am clean as far as anyone can tell.

I can probably tell you all you want and more about this. Feel free to email me with any questions or ask here. Treatments suck, but "cure/remission" rate is high for most lymphomas depending on how early they are caught and what the type is.
