maybe.... but a tailor told me the same thing. They have have been seeing more and more people coming in because the length of 30 is too long. Plus when I was there a guy was in there for the same thing and he had the same comments.

I like my shorts to be just below the knee, and kind of baggy. I have some aversion to showing people my knees.

I'll have you know that I would never where those types of shorts. Actually, I'm not much of a shorts guy. If I wear 'em, they are the standard Bermuda types: long but above the knees. |

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
I was going to start a thread about this, but I decided to search to see if someone else already had.
Anyway, I think it sucks that it's so hard to find shorts that are actually short. Why would anyone even want shorts that go all the way down to the knee? I want shorts like this: ![]() not like this: ![]() |

So you want to expose your balls whenever you sit down.

![]() Those annoying knee-long shorts are huge here in Europe as well. They usually come with a tartan pattern and just look silly in my opinion. Anybody remember those tacky blue silk-like shorts with a white border? They looked great on women but cringe-inducing on men ![]() |

Why would anyone want to look like Magnum?
Never mind, I redact that statement.

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
My issue with shorts is not so much the length, but the bagginess. Most shorts you get in the US are poorly tailored.
I have three pairs of shorts from Chocoolate from Hong Kong. They don't end up being as floppy as your typical pair of shorts from say, Kohl's or Target. ![]() I tend not to pay too much money for shorts because if I'm out in shorts, I'm much more likely to get them messy/dirty than regular pants. I had a pair of Kohl's drawstring khaki shorts that served me well for several years. |

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
I haven't worn shorts since June 22nd, 1994. Men shouldn't wear shorts, period. Nobody looks good in shorts.

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
If they're above your knees you look like a preppy douchebag, if they're too far down your shins but not full pants then you look like a pussy, if they just barely cover the knees (or a little more) you're good, but you also have to watch the bagginess.

I used to think this, then I turned 30 and I was like "I'm hot in the summer, fuck it."

Look at basketball players shorts. They look utterly ridiculous. They look like they are wearing swooshie skirts or something.
![]() I buy whatever shorts Old Navy or The Gap are selling when I need shorts. I do stay away from over fake wrinkled cargo shorts and plain old-man khaki shorts. I try and strike a happy medium. |

![]() Regarding "bagginess", that's just an American thing to accommodate all of the fat asses. Thankfully, a lot of stores are selling slim-fit stuff now. Last edited by CRM114; 05-01-12 at 09:17 AM. |

I scrolled through this entire thread, once I realized it was from '05, to see who resurrected it. No surprise that it was grundle.

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
I wear shorts VERY sparingly. Never, ever to work. Rarely out to dinner. Only on hot, summer days on my personal time.

I thought it would be obvious. Guys will wear anything that suggests their penis is longer than it is.

Re: What is up with the style of mens shorts?
I wear shorts anytime I'm not at work. So it's frequent.

I assume people complaining about lengths are on the older side and used to the short shorts days. I like my shorts around knee length, and don't have a problem with the bagginess that The Bus mentions. |
