Sad News: My father passed away on Saturday of a heart attack
I know that I haven't posted a lot in Otter due to adjusting to my new job at Goldman Sachs. However, since Otter is a community, I thought that I would past this terrible news.
Unfortunately, my father suddenly passed away on Saturday, 6/4/05 at the age of 63 from a severe heart attack. It happened around 3 - 4 AM on Saturday. We thought that he could make it through but unfortunately things took a turn for the worse and he had to go into emergency surgery around 4 PM and he passed around 6 PM. My father had no history of any heart condition so this was completely unexpected. He wasn't overweight either. He had a diabetic condition (not severe as he didn't have to take insulin injections). Apparently, his pancreas became inflamed (the pancreas processes insulin) and that led to the heart attack. In fact, my father was acting normal throughout the day...he was even gardening and ate dinner like normal. He through up around 10 PM which he didn't think anything of and went to sleep. Around 3:30 AM, my mom found him on the floor in the bathroom and called 911. My whole family, esp. my mother is taking it very hard. I was also very very close to my father. However, I take comfort knowing that he's in Heaven with Jesus now. The funeral is on Thursday. I would appreciate any and all prayers because God listens to even the smallest prayer. Thanks in advance for everyone's prayers. My family and I really appreciate them.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It sounds as if he had a fulfilling life with a close and loving family around him. Be comforted that though his time here has passed, it was plainly a very happy one.

I'm sorry for your family's loss.
If it's any comfort, try not to remember him dying (or dead), remember the good times you had with him. And my father also died suddenly, at the age of 53 (heart attack). I was in high school at the time, was called into the principal's office... that was a long time ago, but it's as if it were yesterday. Anyway, definately focus on the good times you had with him, and don't forget to spend a lot of time with your mother in the coming month or two, she's not used to being alone. |

Words won't help, but know our thoughts are with you and your family.
(I know what it's like - many years back my father also died suddenly from a heart attack, and the unexpectedness simply seems to magnify the loss.)

I'm very sorry for your loss. Especially since I'm a diabetic and hearing this story scares the shit out of me in terms of what I may have to look forward too.
I hope and pray that your family can find peace in this time of sorrow. ![]()
