well, it looks like the publicity is causing poor ol' Wanita Renea a good bit of grief. Reading some of the follow up articles she says that her phone has not stopped ringing & she's recieved death threats. She may even have to move.

Surprisingly, she also has a husband. Who's had a restraining order put on him by one of the girls' dads due to harassing calls to their home. I wonder where he was during this whole ordeal? Hiding under the bed perhaps?

She also tried to collect $3,000 in damages. To replace her motion sensor lights for whatever reason. Plus lost wages. Luckily the judge had a rare moment of common sense & only awarded $1.00 for those.

The girls have had enough money raised to pay the fine several times over and have been on Good Morning America and are considering going on Leno. Even Otis Spunkmeyer cookies is trying to grab some publicity out of this.

If this woman was so terrified over a knock at the door, why isn't she back in the hospital after getting death threats over the phone?

I think the entire neighborhood should knock on her door randomly during the night.

Well, this woman did overreact, but don't cry for the cookie girls, they're going to be making a lot of money from this thing until people move on to the next crazy story.

On this forum, we like to laugh about frivolous lawsuits, but it's pretty scary when one actually pays off. That's why they'll never stop.

And he's now in prison, I hope.

That would've been a red flag to a judge that she's a neighborhood troublemaker
That was what I noticed, also: she's clearly had problems with neighbors. If it was one neighbor (like the dickhead that lived next to me at my last apartment building, who EVERYONE had problems with), that's one thing, but if you have problems with more than one neighbor, then you're the problem.

Yep, see this story The one part I find somewhat is the Otis Spunkmeyer angle, from the story:
Quote:
"Cookies are the ultimate comfort food," spokeswoman Liz Rayo said. "We don't want anyone sued over cookies. Cookies are good. This is an emotional issue for us."
I'm sure they're not just trying to jump on the bandwagon...

Oh, and from the above article, there's a little box that says:
Quote:
The families say the girls' court costs are covered, but people who still want to donate can designate that the money be used for the girls' college funds or for the "Never Forgotten" scholarship fund for Columbine students. The families set up this address for mail and donations: Taylor Ostergaard and Lindsey Zellitti, P.O. Box 2528, Durango, CO 81301.

The funny thing is that the knock and run killing took place in Boca Raton, in a nice neighborhood. Just another example of one of these paranoid people that have no grip on reality. The guy was charged though, not sure exactly what he got though.

I would like to know who the low life, bottom of the pond sucker lawyer said, "Yes, yes I will take this one. We must punish all the good and happy people". Almost in a Mr. Burns sort of voice

This is just moronic. Glad she is getting grief over it. She couldn't just talk to the girls parents and just work it out? This is the US, we have to jump at every lawsuit we can, otherwise the lawyers' kids will starve.

Let her move. This is the age of the internet. She can be found again.

Well, Neal Boortz (homegrown Atlanta talk radio blabbermouth) picked up the story this morning. He's trying to set up an all-expenses-paid trip to Disney World for the two girls and their families. Considering his sponsors (AirTran, Disney, etc) this is likely to happen.

I kinda see both sides of the story. But yeah now a days, if someone came knocking on my door late at night I'd have the baseball bat ready.
