Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

I don't understand--does the settlement not require them to offer enough free tickets so that all the vouchers they've given out could actually be redeemed?

The offer is good for 4 years. One would assume that once the feeding frenzy dies down it will be easier to use them.

17 of each here, and all events in northern VA, DC, and MD are sold out. Go figure.

Not necessarily. They only had to give away up to $10 million in tickets. Once that cap is hit, they are under no obligation to honor those vouchers anymore.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

To date, class members have redeemed nearly $15M worth of ticket vouchers, almost three times the amount required by the settlement this year.
The way this is worded, they are going to have to give out $5 million in vouchers minimum per year through 2020.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

Ticketmaster:

"Very well then, it seems we're forced to agree to this so-called....settlement. But just for sport, we're going to send out ten times as many vouchers as there are tickets available--then we'll watch those filthy peasants scramble like dogs for their bones, and most of them will get nothing! We'll make sure those vile, unwashed peons are more miserable AFTER the settlement than they were BEFORE. We'll see if they EVER dare to stand up to us again! BAHAHAHAHAAA!"

I got G-Eazy & Logic tickets.

Got a friend tickets to Slipknot.

Not fantastic, but not cover bands, either.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

So anybody notice that they haven't added anything at all this year for the "free ticket" shows? All these vouches that can't be used. Smart.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

Most Live Nation stuff they would give it away for would be in the summer at their amphitheater venues. They can give away cheap lawn seats.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

All the summer amphitheater venues around here are ticketmaster venues. I know of exactly 2 Live Nation venues in the Metro Detroit area. Both are in the city. One is a small club and the other is a medium size theater.

Live Nation owns Ticketmaster. Various venues all over can sell on Ticketmaster.

Most of the tickets that they give away are from Live Nation owned venues. Pretty much any venue on this list http://concerts.livenation.com/ourguarantee/venues would probably give away free tickets.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

I'm aware of all of that. They're basically the same thing, but there is still a distinction between Live Nation venues and Ticketmaster venues. The only Live Nation venues in my area are the two that I mentioned, and they are the only ones that offered any free events when the event list was posted.

There are several summer amphitheater venues in my area. None of them are Live Nation, and none of them offered any free tickets.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

Here's what I got from the list, which I would consider Detroit area venues:

MIDetroit Calihan Hall at University of Detroit Mercy
MI Detroit The Fillmore Detroit
MIDetroit Saint Andrews Hall
MIDetroit Shelter

MI Warren Andiamo Celebrity

MI Rochester Oakland University Student Recreation and Athletic Center

None of the above are outdoor venues. The Fillmore and St. Andrew's Hall are the two venues I was speaking of. The Shelter is the basement at St. Andrew's Hall, so I consider them to be the same venue.

Calihan Hall is the basketball arena for the University of Detroit Mercy. If they host any other events, I've never heard of it.

Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren is a place in the suburbs that hosts mainly comedians and older musical acts (The Temptations, etc.)

The last venue is the Oakland University Basketball arena. Again, I don't think they host any other events.

The only venue on this list that might offer something worth going to is the Fillmore. The list that we got last year had I think one Fillmore event, and a bunch of crap at St. Andrew's Hall/The Shelter. Nothing else.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

I was kind of hoping we might see more free ticket offers for the upcoming summer concerts. But no luck, at least not so far. 8^(

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

Yeah, I recently used a couple $2.25 vouchers with the $20 Chicago Open Air tickets that were on sale a couple weeks back, I still have a few of those left.

I've never seen any free shows listed since the first day or so of the settlement. I have seven free vouchers to use by June 2020.

Aw crap. Totally forgot to double-dip on those deals.

Oh well--see you at Open Air!

I never got to use the free tickets, but I have used six of the $2.25 vouchers so far...so that's something, I guess...

They only have to do an X amount. They did "more than needed" last year so this will probably be a while. I'm curious what shows where redeemable.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

I just got an email from them saying that they're going to be adding new events. Nothing is up yey, but now is the time to start looking regularly.

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

There are some shows now. Nothing I really wanted to see, but I have a ton of vouchers so I ended up getting tix for 311.

It was really easy this year. I used a voucher to get Matchbox 20 tix for my wife in 3 minutes flat

Not much of a selection for Chicago area. Yacht Rock? Bobby Bones? I am considering Rachel Yamagata though.

Oh, Tinley Park IL is listed separately, a lot more shows appeared. But checking one of them shows that they are only for lawn seats (the cheap section way back behind the already massive pavilion seating).

Re: PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account

Not much selection around here either. I think I will pick up a couple tix and go see what if an Andrew W.K. live show is any good.
