Prophets of Rage - members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill
In a tweet on Tuesday, Rage Against the Machine directed fans to the website ProphetsOfRage.com that has a countdown clock set for May 31st. Fans connected the cryptic website to a series of posters cropping up around Los Angeles that read: "Clear the way for the Prophets of Rage. The Party's Over. Summer 2016."
RAmong the curious fans are Nikki Sixx and Questlove, who speculated about what all the vague signs mean. "It only took 16 years WTF guys?!" Questlove tweeted. Cleveland.com posited that Rage could be playing an anti-Trump rally at the Republican National Convention. The news generated so much Internet buzz that ProphetsofRage.com nearly crashed.
A source close to the band tells Rolling Stone that the fans – so far – are wrong. "This is not a Rage-specific reunion," says the source. "There's a lot more to it. There are a lot of moving parts, a lot of exciting news to be revealed."
The project will include "some of the members of Rage." The source also confirms the project will include live shows. "Whether that's one show, or five shows, I don't know," says the source. "There are more announcements to come."
Rage Against the Machine released their last album Renegades in 2000. That year, singer Zack de la Rocha left the band. In the intervening years, members moved on to other projects. Guitarist Tom Morello released music as the Nightwatchman. Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk also formed Audioslave with Chris Cornell.
Rage reunited in 2007 for a successful world tour and last played at a one-off concert at L.A. Rising Festival in 2011. Last year, Rolling Stone asked Commerford if the band would ever play again. "Anything's possible. We are still a band, and we still might play again. We don't have anything scheduled right now, but you never know what the future will bring."

That could be pretty cool. Another article I read said they would be doing songs from the respective artists, and was unsure about new music from a collaborative standpoint. I have a hard time seeing them not creating something new though.

More like Prophets of Money. Nothing ironic about spouting the dangers of communism at Coachella. Based off the last group the members formed without Zach I don't think anyone should hold their breath for a good record.

I still want to hear that Solo album of Zach's that He and Trent Reznor teamed up for.

Any reviews of the show yet?
On local LA news they were showing that cell phones were banned from the show and that everyone was given this little pouch that evidently you put your phone in and it's magnetically locked throughout the show and then somehow it gets unlocked after the show. I'd like to know more about how this works. I'm also curios if it was done to keep up mystique by keeping content off of youtube, or was it done because these guys are espousing some crazy political shit during the show.

Had a chance to see them at Governors Ball yesterday but the show was cancelled due to drizzle and a rainbow.
They played a surprise show at Warsaw but since this is NY unless you hear of it the minute it's announced and live on the block, you'll be facing a giant line:
Great setlist though.

I'd see them at the Forum. I saw Rage play there in 1999. I lost my wallet in the pit. I would have seen them this past Friday at the Palladium but I was out of town.

Interesting to see the set list. I thought these guys had their own new material, but they're just doing their respective hits without their band mates. That doesn't seem like much to get excited about. Like one of those Four Tops concerts with one of the original Four Tops and three other dudes.

It's a bag with a lock. Cell phone goes in bag when you enter the venue, cell phone comes out of bag when you exit.

I also like some RATM but I prefer Zack de la Rocha's original band Inside Out.

Although, I'd hoped this announcement was Rage Against The Machine getting back together for a new album & tour, this new group is pretty fucking cool. I would love to see them play.

Managed to score floor for VA show. The concourse seating was like $300 for any seat I would want. Sometimes people on CL swap decent concourse for floor closer to the show so we'll see what happens.

Looks like all shows have a $20 option. I opted for that. Not worth anymore to me.
