Taylor Swift donates $250,000 to Kesha

Couldn't that money have went to a more useful cause?

I thought this was a good thing where we did not have to hear Kesha's music and I thought her 15 minutes of fame ended in 2011.

Quote:
Two days after a New York judge denied Kesha a court injunction that would have allowed her to record new music outside of her record label Sony Music, Taylor Swift has agreed to give the singer $250,000.

In October 2014, Kesha sued Dr. Luke, accusing him of drugging, raping and abusing her a decade ago; Dr. Luke has denied all charges. The producer’s lawyers argued that Kesha made up the allegations as an attempt to nullify her contract with Dr. Luke and Sony. Judge Kornreich reserved to rule on a motion to dismiss the claims until Kesha's lawyers filed more evidence on the alleged abuse.

“In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time,” a spokesperson for Swift wrote in a statement.

Swift is the latest singer to show support for Kesha after the trial, with Lady Gaga, Lorde, Grimes, Lily Allen and Kelly Clarkson among those who have taken to Twitter to publicly back the singer.

“There are people all over the world who love you Kesha,” Gaga wrote. "And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery.“

“Standing with Kesha through this traumatic, deeply unfair time,” added Lorde. “Send good vibes her way, everyone.”

Over the weekend, Demi Lovato wrote a series of tweets supporting Kesha and exemplifying women empowerment.

Look at Taylor Swift's face - does it look like she has an operational mind?

I'm not a fan of Kesha*, but Sony should do the right thing and just end her contract and let her move on.

The whole situation is ugly.

*she did a few things with The Flaming Lips that I enjoyed, so maybe I should give her another chance?

Taylor Swift is making money hand over fist and donates to a ton of different things. Last year she randomly gave the Seattle Symphony $50K because she happened to hear a piece by them that reminded her of going to symphony concerts with her grandmother. Plus we know from the Spotify issue that she's big on artists' rights.

I love the outrage about this. If this were, say, Paul Stanley, giving $250,000 to Vince Neil we'd be on page 3 right now with everybody declaring what a hero he was.

Re: Taylor Swift donates $250,000 to Kesha

One thing I know about Taylor Swift is that everything she does that puts her in the limelight is a calculated business move to make her brand even more popular.

I do think it's BS that the judge said that Kesha cannot be released from her contract and calls into question whether Kesha was abused or not.

That may be true, but I'll take that over all the thoughtless moves by other celebrities.

absolutely. She's the Gene Simmons of pop-country. But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing, in this case.

Re: Taylor Swift donates $250,000 to Kesha

I love the "outrage" over her donating money to Kesha... as if she hasn't contributed millions elsewhere.

I'd also love to see the 2015 charitable contributions from the loudest complainers.

You obviously don't spend much time around heavy metal fans.

The facts call into question whether she was abused or not. Much of this story appears to be manufactured b/w Kesha and her mother. But I wasn't there, so I don't know. A jury will decide that question.

Re: Taylor Swift donates $250,000 to Kesha

With all the things we can criticize celebrities for, it's good to see we're not overlooking the little things, like instances of them being kind to one another. The fact that the larger issue involves taking a stand against the sexual abuse of women is just a bonus. Kudos for finding and posting an unflattering picture of the woman claiming the abuse.

LOL at least Vince Neil has or had talent.

So you would give $250,000 to somebody who did this song?

I bet LMFAO wish they received this donation to restart their career lol

I like that Your Love Is My Drug song. Great hook. I didn't know anything about this situation. Hope she comes out a winner. Record companies treat artists like shit.

Given that the issue here is potential rape and sexual abuse, I don't see what talent or lack thereof has to do with it.

I wouldn't mind fucking either one of them... at the same time would be a bonus! What... too soon?

In fairness to the poster, the ratio of unflattering pictures of Ke$ha to flattering ones is about 10000:1. This is the best I could find, really:

She's just not all that pretty. Doesn't mean she's lying, doesn't mean she wasn't raped, just to preempt all of those stupid arguments.

if raped women want sympathy they apparently need to put out thought provoking music and write insightful lyrics.

if tom waits raped leonard cohen, we would be on page three by now.
