I just love Steve Khan, next to Pat Metheny, he is my favorite jazz guitarist.

Great, heavy noisy guitars from Beck.
I don't love the singer he got for this album, but she's fine - it's all about the guitars.
You can listen to the whole album here.

Being a huge Black Crowes fan since day one, I had to buy the new solo albums for each brother (6th one for Chris, 4th one for Rich), which interestingly enough came out on the same week.
Both albums are really good, straightforward guitar rock with some fantastic musicianship.
However, it would've been much better had they worked together, combining the best elements of both records into one great Black Crowes album, rather than 2 pretty good solo albums.
Unfortunately, like most musician brothers, they hate each other too much to continue working together as they get older. They're less successful solo, but much happier.

Re: What's the latest album you've purchased? (2016 edition)
Two of my favorite American bands dropped albums today:
Wilco: Schmilco
The Head & The Heart: Signs of Light
I'm honestly a little disappointed in both.
They're like a reverse of what I wanted from each band. The Wilco album is WAY too mellow and acoustic. A few songs like that, even half, would be fine - but a whole album like that is way too samey, and not as interesting as the stuff they do electrically.
Whereas the H&H album isn't nearly mellow enough. It's a bit too overproduced, with drums and electric guitars that are too heavy, that obscure their otherwise fantastic harmonies, which is their usual strength and they don't sound particularly keen on this album.
And another thing...
Went to Best Buy to pick these up, only half an hour after they had opened, and they only had one copy left of the Wilco (which I bought), and had completely sold out of the H&H (there was a spot for it). So I went to the Target across the street and they had sold out of the Wilco, but had two copies of the H&H.
Now, I know that sales of physical music is in the shitter. But if these big stores are selling out of what they've ordered on day-one, within one hour of opening, maybe they should be ordering more copies? Maybe physical sales are low because people can't walk into a store and buy what they want without the hassle of going to multiple locations? Just a thought.
