Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

For any Eddie Trunk fans, I recommend his weekly podcast, posted on Thursdays via iTunes or podcastone.com. There's a long interview as the feature, but he usually begins show with 10-20 minutes of news/commentary.

It satisfies my fix for metal news& opinion from him since I don't have satellite radio for his Monday show and listening to his syndicated Friday night radio show never works out for me (I'm out or I forget).

I never thought it truly reached it's potential, but it was better than sitcom reruns and unrelated movies. At least it was always about music in some way. Trunk's fascination with UFO wore thin pretty quick though.

When VH1 Classic was added to my cable, the very first thing I saw when I tuned in was a full David Bowie concert from the Ziggy era. Turned on VH1 Classic last night and they were running Star Trek III.

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

That sucks and I hate it when channels like MTV don''t show music, History Channel does not show history programs, and the Cartoon Network has shows with real people and not animation and others etc that stray away from what their initial content should be.

Palladia will now be known as MTV Live starting in February.

Well, Palladia is advrtising on VH1 classic. Looks good, and seems to be all music.

Of course, by the time I get this added to my cable, I'm sure they'll be running Star Trek Into Darkness weekly.

Expect Palladia to go down the drain. The original Palladia was a no-nonsense music channel that focused heavily on broadcasting concerts and music-centered films.

When it changes to MTV Live I assume that name will prevent them from airing Wayons Bros repeats.

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

Does anyone know if there is a similar program on another channel? I want a program that shows music videos from the current top 20 charts in HD. I don't want to watch videos on my computer, phone or tablet. I spend too much time on there already! :-)

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

When is Directv ever going to add MTV Hits?

Fuse had a 2 hr top 20 countdown show which was cancelled 2 years ago probably.

You can tape Epic Awesome Videos on MTV Live from 3am-7am PDT or Music Feed from MTV but they are not all top 20 videos.

I was scared MTV cancelled their videos since Clubland and Music Feed were not on for about 3 weeks.

If they did that they should also cancel the VMA Awards too since it would make no sense.

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

Get ready to say goodbye to VH1 Classic on Aug 1 and it will be rebranded as MTV Classic.

Now you can watch all the shows that replaced music videos again.

Metal Mania will probably be gone too.

VH1 will no longer be a term that refers to music and it figures after dumping all music shows from VH1 they wanted to start over at VH1 Classic.

I actually enjoy VH1 Classic on Weekend mornings as they play all of the 80's/90's videos. It's a shame if they go to all reality shows.

So what will be on MTV Classic?

Beavis & Butthead, Liquid Television, Real World?

Or Teen Mom, Jackass, and Jersey Shore?

Probably but you can watch those shows on DVD or on demand and no need to re-air them.

Wow this sucks. I watched Metal Mania on Saturday mornings. Getting up late, cooking breakfast and cleaning up the kitchen. It was the closest thing to Headbangers Ball I had. Even my 8 year old got in to some of the songs of my youth.

After killing off That Metal Show and now this. I'm bummed.

From looking at the first week lineup I see B&B and Jackass (thankfully no Teen Mom or Jersey Shore). Daria, Punk'd (ugh!), and Aeon Flux are some of the other shows I see for that week.

To be honest it looks like many of the same video shows will still be on there just with different names = "90's Nation", "I want my 80's", "Headbangers", "Rock Block", etc. A "Yo! Hip Hop Mix" show is listed as well.

The first day (8/1) several Unplugged's will air (The Cure, R.E.M., Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith). The one thing still on the schedule that I wish was not are movies like Revenge of the Nerds, Ghostbusters, etc. Speaking for myself in this day and age the last thing I want to watch are movies edited with commercials and in standard definition.

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

Oh, shit. I have to record some of those Unpluggeds!

I'd love it if they would show full re-runs of the some of the old Headbangers Balls, like the one where Guns and Roses trashed the set, or the one with Nirvana where Kurt Cobain was wearing a ball gown and really not wanting to be there.

And, yeah, running movies suck. Especially in SD. And when there's so much other material they could run.

Ghostbusters? WTF?

They will re-air the original broadcast and the first hour of programming when MTV launched in 1981.

Re: VH1 Cancels Top 20 Countdown and all Music programming

Since VH1 Classic is being rebranded, does anyone know if Dish Network will change what packages it's available on? I'm interested in watching it, but I have the top 200 package, which VH1 Classic isn't part of. Dish has bumped channels down before; about 1 1/2 years ago the 200 package got H2 and Boomerang. I'm hoping if they want the channel to reach a wider audience, they'll bump it to a lower package.
