I was quite surprised at how well she acquitted herself with album. "More than a passable job" I think is an understatement.

Had both of these when I was just hitting puberty.

Spoiler:

I'd rate Dance Forever as the stronger of the two, but they were both decent adult contemporary vocal collections.

She was a more than capable singer (her first credit I think was providing vocals for the song portions on Josie And The Pussycats) and I actually still enjoy listening to both of these from time to time- though it's probably more nostalgia than the material or execution.

I didn't know she made any albums.

I did have a poster of Cheryl on my bedroom wall though, when I was a young lad.

Anything by Jenny Lewis or fronted by Jenny Lewis is great.

I have this, its decent... she has a good voice. IMHO, its worth finding the now out-of-print Brady Bunch albums to get her solo songs, such as Little Bird, Ben, and Just A Singin' Alone... She performed Little Bird on American Bandstand...

I only recently found out about this album that Robert Downey Jr. released back in 2004 (so a few years before his acting career resurgence starting in 2008).

From this video on the album, it seems like the album is mostly slow songs:

I wonder how good it is. Has anyone heard the whole album?
He is great with Sting...

Her output from the 1980s is probably more like guilty pleasure fluff, but I always thought Pia Zadora had a good singing voice. She was nominated for the Grammy for this song:

Meh. Her vocal has too many effects applied to it to be able to tell if she has a truly good voice. Luckily she was always eye candy, so it pretty much didn't matter.

I actually saw Pia Zadora live, she was the opening act for Frank Sinatra. I remember her having a surprisingly passable voice (I thought it was gonna be horrible).

Thought we had a She & Him thread but as limited as the Search function is for this particular band name, this was all I could find.
I really like them as well. They have a new album coming out and are touring. Their new album Darlin’ is a tribute to Brian Wilson. I like the first single

As luck would have it, I will be in San Diego when they perform, so I got front row center seats — They were reserved for people who bought the dinner package, so I figured why not, I had to eat dinner anyway. By the time she actually performs I will be totally stalking…er, starving.

I saw that She & Him have a new album coming out. I think there are threads for their individual albums (think I may have started one of them actually). I’ll have to listen to the new album. I’d like to see them, but they’re nowhere near me.

Humpreys is a nice venue by the water. Should be fun. I've followed her Instagram for years and she'll sing on there every now and then.

Cool. I've never been to that hotel but I think I know where it is. I'll be staying at the Hotel Del Coronado which is lovely. Should be a good time.

I guess you didn't want to get a room there at Humphreys. Hotel Del is awesome and historic. Did you request their most requested room 3327? It's supposed to be haunted.

I Tried It: Room 3327 at Hotel Del Coronado

I was a bit surprised to find out Minne Driver has a pretty good singing voice.

That actor David Bowie did pretty well in music.

Not an actress. A royal that was a former model.

Princess Stephanie of Monaco released two largely forgotten albums. (The daughter of american actress Grace Kelly).

The first album from 1986 sounded like a third rate madonna copy, sung in french/english. The second album from 1991 is slightly more "listenable", albeit sounding rather generic like Wilson Phillips, Belinda Carlisle, etc ... from that time period of the early 1990s.

She even recorded a song with Michael Jackson "In the Closet" on Dangerous.

Re: Music albums by actors/actresses: Which do you own? Are they any good?

Like any self-respecting 11-year-old in the late 70s, I had a crush on Kristy McNichol and begged my parents for a copy of her & brother Jimmy's just-released record album ... which I played quite a bit before selling it off once my taste in music changed in junior high. I still find myself singing along to Box On Wheels to this day as it will randomly pop into my head for some reason. Saw a copy of the album not long ago in one of our local record stores and was (almost) tempted to re-buy it ... yeah, no. Lol.

Warning: To be listened to at your own peril ...

Ah yes, Kristy McNichol, a celebrity crush destined to remain forever unrequited for reasons that had nothing to do with the fact that I'm not famous or anything like that.

I once saw a record by Michael "Earl McGraw" Parks in a bargain bin, kinda bummed I didn't buy it

Was it because you asked her for a lock of her hair? My sister did that when she wrote a letter to Leif Garrett ...
