Re: The VINYL Thread!

I just happened upon an original, mintish copy of Bitches Brew - for free. That was nice.

Speaking of holiday music . . . So many great Christmas album reissues coming this year. Johnny Cash, Sinatra, James Brown, a couple of those Christmas Cocktail compilations, Elf Soundtrack. Probably more I can't recall.

Call me a sentimental old fuddy duddy, but I like to have the parents over, decorate a tree, drink wine, eat junk and spin Xmas records.
Drinking and grubbing and playing records sounds like a plan to me!

Same here, and thanks for the notice! I hadn't even heard about this release.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I like the look of the Shaun LP and that Guardians is cool but price is too steep - I'm still waiting for my fucking Jurassic Park LP from Mondo, so until they finally fulfill that order, I'm not buying anything else.

Scored a regular Shaun of the Dead LP. The variant sold out in a flash.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I might get the Shaun of the Dead score. I wouldn't mind getting the Guardians of the Galaxy- Awesome Mix Volume One vinyl but don't know if I want to pay $50 for it.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

In an effort to keep this from officially becoming the Mondo/Deathwaltz thread, has anyone ordered the Newbury Comics 200g "purple haze" reissue of "Are You Experienced?" If not, it's already sold out - only 1500 made.

I ordered the Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas album on red and white vinyl for the holidays.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I know this doesn't really help with the whole "This thread is becoming nothing but horror movie soundtracks" thing , but the details are out on Waxworks's Trick r Treat soundtrack.

  • Deluxe heavyweight tip-on gatefold jacket with satin coating
  • Full artwork and design by Francesco Francavilla
  • Liner notes by director Michael Dougherty and composer Douglas Pipes
  • An inserted 11” x 22” poster
  • Bonus Spooky Sound-FX Album
It'll be a double album, available in 4 versions.

1) The picture disc version that was posted on the last page
Spoiler:

2) Orange Vinyl
3) Orange & Black Swirl Vinyl
Spoiler:

4) Candy Corn Splatter Vinyl
Spoiler:

Pre-orders go up on the 14th, they ship on the 28th.

I really want the Candy Corn one, but I'd be happy with the orange & black.
I'm sorta happy I don't really care for picture discs, since that seems to be what everyone is focusing on. It might give me a better chance at getting the Candy Corn Splatter.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Got the new Primus in chocolate splatter vinyl. Darn it. They made 500 of the gold versions and only 5 contain lifetime tickets to Primus shows.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Dammit. I was the one who made a big deal about the Trick r Treat record, and then I forgot about it completely and missed the release.

Now I'm not getting the candy corn one for sure.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

BTW, for anyone interested, Bull Moose music is starting to get in on the "Exclusive, Limited Edition, Colored Vinyl" release deal, too. They are currently taking pre-orders for a January release of Ben Folds Five - Whatever & Ever Amen on Orange vinyl.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Ben Folds doesn't scream orange vinyl to me.

I think Bull Moose is also doing a blue Cruising soundtrack.

Yeah, me too. It's $40 shipped, so that's steep right now.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Got my In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 Audiophile vinyl today.

Opened the thing up and...not too impressed.

I'm in the middle of trying to clean it right now.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

^ I've had a few recent purchases that arrived in similar shape. It's really inexcusable, especially considering how much they're charging for records these days.

What did you use to clean them?

I'm sitting here trying to clean it with a standard record brush, and while most of the surface gunk is coming off, there is still a lot down deep in the groove.

Also, this isn't just dust, it's sand-like grit. I have no idea what the hell they did with this thing. I'm thinking of just sending this back to Amazon and trying again.

Not cool. I canceled my order at the last minute, because I wasn't feeling the $40 price tag.

My actual copy has nowhere near the amount of white thats in this picture.
