Re: The VINYL Thread!
Picked up my Mondo Guardians today. Nice package. I sure hope Alien is a screen printed jacket.
Also got a variant Pet Semetary.
That said, I did not order Scanners and have no plans to order Black Sunday tomorrow. Just too much other stuff out there that has more replay value for me.

Always fun to go to a gig, buy some vinyl at the merch table, and have the artists sign it

Can anyone recommend a carbon fiber brush or any vinyl record cleaning supplies on Amazon. Too many with mixed reviews to get a good idea myself so prefer some firsthand experience.

I have this Audioquest brush. I like it. It gets the job done.

The thing to remember is that no record brush is going to perform miracles. It's really just for removing loose dust that may have made its way onto the record surface since the last time the record was properly cleaned. That said, the record brush I linked can be used for those between-play dry brushings or can be used for more thorough wet-cleaning of records. It's versatile and you can get replacement pads for it.

How do you guys wash your records? I'm relatively new to collecting and on occasion I get new records that skip. No noticeable flaws or dirt but they skip in the same area every time. Assume a good cleaning would help?

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I currently use Disc Washer, but I'm thinking about getting a Spin Clean or an actual record cleaning machine.
Also, do you mean factory new records that skip, as in literally skip and not just pop? For factory new records, I think the Disc Washer followed up by an anti-static brush does the trick. If it's just popping, we'll, that's just something records do sometimes no matter how clean they are.
Also, clean your stylus with a tiny brush or a non-detergent bearing Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (Google this to get the idea). That'll help.

Did you know, lighter fluid can safely remove old price labels from record covers without staining? Never knew that. A record store guy told me that. This came out of a conversation about how Princeton Record Exchange labels are impossible to remove without destroying the cover.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Good advice above about the tonearm weight. I bought a tonearm scale thing for $30. It was totally worth it, as I discovered that I was WAY off from the proper weight.

As others have mentioned, I use the Spin Clean.
To reiterate what others have said, skipping can also be caused by incorrect tracking force or anit-skate settings.
