MEGADETH FILMS 'SUPER COLLIDER' VIDEO
Megadeth filmed a video for the title track and first single from the band's new album, "Super Collider", on Friday, May 10 in the Los Angeles area. California-based model, actress, singer and songwriter Hunter Elizabeth was cast in the lead role in the clip, which she says is "about a high-school couple still loving each other after all the years after graduation, and at the 10-year reunion, both characters find themselves successful (a model and a mathematician) and still very in love."

Are we sure they didn't get it mixed up with a Taylor Swift video?

Re: MEGADETH: "Album 14" -2013
I always thought Dave was a smart businessman and I understand that he doesn't want to churn out the same album over and over. The thing is, usually musicians will develop side projects to fulfill that void they feel to experiment with their music. He really should just keep Megadeth the same and put out this kind of stuff under another name. Look at Devin Townsend. I really appreciate his solo stuff and SYL. However, he was smart enough to put the other type of music out under different names. He knew the more melodic and ambient works would alienate some fans. Some of his solo stuff is pretty heavy too but with SYL, you know what you are getting.

David Ellefson interview
Metalfan: On April 23rd you have released a new single, the title track of the new album - Super Collider. Could you tell us more about this song? About the lyrics and as well as musical direction...
David Ellefson: There is an entire mechanics library behind what an actual Super Collider is and does, but for me I love how it looks on the album! That’s why the album cover has that really colorful and bold image on it, that of a Super Collider. The song was one of the first tracks Dave brought in for the new album. It’s really a big rock, chord hook-type of song….it’s very melodic. I remember when he wrote the lyric and it seemed to just fall into place pretty easily for him. Sometimes the best songs are like that. For me, the bass line is quite aggressive over the simplicity of the guitars. So I stay pretty busy and have fun playing licks during the entire song.
Metalfan: Speaking about your new album, Super Collider, I've seen some footage from the studio and I have to say that it turns out to be a great album, am I right? What could you tell us about the time spent in studio?
David Ellefson: Yes, it is a really record. There is a good amount of variety on the album from melodic to really heavy stuff. To me, every album should be able to branch out while still retaining the classic sound of the band. I think we accomplished that on this album.
Metalfan: All the songs from Super Collider have been composed for this album or there are also some old tunes/ideas like in the case of Th1rt3en?
David Ellefson: These are all brand new ideas on this album.

Maybe this'll be another Van Halen situation - "Tattoo" sucked, but the rest of the album was way better than anyone expected. Wishful thinking, I know.

Re: MEGADETH: "Album 14" -2013
First impression: meandering, lazy. The guitar work is, as always, nothing short of incredible. But it's mired in poor rhythm, weak hooks, and Mustaine's lyrics are just terrible. "Don't Turn Your Back" sounds killer, but his lyrics are so dumb it practically kills the song.

Listened to it this morning. Not good. Not good at all. Maybe a couple of decent tracks, but that's about it. And the cover of Thin Lizzy's "Cold Sweat" is just awful. They sucked all the life out of it.
