Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
Has it been 10 years already? Wow. I remember the day it happened.
The problem with their idea is that with them implementing Left-Eye in to the concert she would have to be in the whole show. That would bug me.

Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
I think the 2pac hologram looked pretty good. When reading the first post I thought it was kind of disrespectful though because it profits without his permission and kind of puts commercialism over the art. Then again, 2pac was someone who licensed his image out, did beer commercials. Also, his mother has put out his music with new producers and guest rappers so it's more of the same.
As long as it's not used to directly sell products in commercials, I think it's an okay gimmick of keeping his memory alive.

Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
The Pulse Of Radio reports: Following the debut of a holographic image of late rapper Tupac Shakur "performing" at the Coachella Festival in California earlier this month, Sanj Surati of Musion Technology, the company that created the Shakur hologram, now has other dead artists in his sights. Surati gave NME his wishlist, saying, "Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, oh, and Michael Jackson would be the ultimate one. Maybe even Whitney Houston." Surati added that putting "Elvis on stage with Justin Bieber would be a cool thing."

Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Your thoughts on artists being digitally resurrected?"
Or is this thread about techno artists rising from the grave ? ![]()

Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
One of the best-known showbiz mantras is “anything you can do, I can do better.” But this might be taking things a tad too far.
Last month, the late rapper Tupac Shakur appeared on stage at the Coachella music festival, thanks to holographic technology, to perform a duet with Snoop Dogg. Now it seems like Queen’s former lead singer Freddie Mercury, who has been dead for 20 years, is set for a special comeback of his own. Guitarist Brian May told the BBC that the much-missed frontman will “appear” on stage during a very special 10th anniversary performance of the Queen-inspired London musical We Will Rock You. “People will come out saying, ‘did we actually see Freddie?’” May said, though he was at pains to point out that the “effect” being employed wasn’t a hologram, but rather “an optical illusion of sorts.” May, of course, can call it whatever he wants, but he did confess to some frustration at Tupac beating Mercury to the beyond-the-grave punch. “It’s a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we’ve been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while,” he said. “[That technique] is something we’ve looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it’s not really quite practical.” For your diary, the Mercury appearance is scheduled for May 14; the performance will also see nearly all of the original London cast in attendance, as well as actor Robert De Niro, one of We Will Rock You‘s producers. “We call him Bob so we don’t get too overcome with his stardom,” May sweetly pointed out. No matter how star-studded the audience is, though, we’re betting Mercury will steal the show. |

Re: Your thoughts on digital artists being resurrected?
It would be cool if whoever owned the rights to Freddies image went out on tour with a back up band and left the other two out. Turnabout is fair play.
