Obligatory "I know I know, Rolling Stone is a piece of crap" blah blah

They gave Uno! 4 out of 5 stars

Which of their past releases does it most resemble?

I was thinking the exact same thing. I think Insomniac is by far their best release.

Amazon has one listed but it doesn't appear to have extra songs on it. From the item description it sounds like it's just a slipbox for all three albums to fit into and some other little crap (sticker and a postcard).

If it compares to anything it's Dookie.

Anyway I like it. I'm surprised. Absolutely nothing like the last two emo pop albums.

I'm probably in the minority (no pun intended haha) but I actually think that Warning is their best release. It really feels like an underrated album to me and feels like their most grown up album. I never understood why it didn't seem as well accepted as their other albums. It has a lot of good songs on it such as the title track, Church on Sunday, Fashion Victim, Minority, and Macy's Day Parade. I also liked Nimrod quite a bit and it's probably the album that really got me into Green Day back in the day and also one of the first albums I bought. Insomniac is good too but more for just a harder/more punk sounding album.

I like the second half better than the first, but it's all good.

Better than I expected.

They have a crazy $90 set on their website that includes all 3 CDs in book packaging (the books are also available separately), an exclusive DVD, early downloads of singles, day 1 digital downloads (which is kinda redundant since they promise release date delivery of the physical discs) and a year-long fanclub membership.

They recently added some buttons and a patch to it which probably doesn't bode well for how it's selling.

Edit:

At one point I was a big enough Green Day fan that I probably would have ordered that but now I don't care as much. I'll get all three albums but I don't need that set.

Re: Green Day to release 3 albums in next 8 months

I actually ordered it. I can ignore a lot of the bells and whistles that come with these Super Deluxe albums but once they include actual media (DVD, bonus tracks, exclusive discs etc.) I'm almost OCD about it. I can live without a Green Day sweatband or tea cozy but not having that DVD would drive me crazy.

Listend to it three times today. Great album! I'd give it a 9/10.
The weakest song on it is the first single, "Oh Love".

that's actually one of my favorites. A lot of the other songs feel like filler to me.

The album is a game of where have I heard that one before? Usually the answer is one of Green Day's previous songs. Still extremely listenable and fun album.

Re: Green Day to release 3 albums in next 8 months

Anyone see this last night? Basically they were the second to last band at the i heart radio festival in vegas and were cut short. Actually their entire set was like this, as Billie Joe wasn't feelin the crowd as it was mostly pop music fans. The great thing was that this was broadcast on the radio as well on most top 40 stations so the people in charge of censoring language must of had fun (NSFW LANGUAGE )

It's a straight up, full on pop punk album complete with profanity galore and angst.

Great record. No surprises but fun and light.

Re: Green Day to release 3 albums in next 8 months

As long as it's better than their last two albums (particularly 21st Century Breakdown) I'll be happy. As much as I don't really care too much about them anymore they're a band who I'll keep buying releases from just out of habit .

I guess my question would be, what idiot thought it was a good idea to schedule Green Day between Usher and Rihanna?

Re: Green Day to release 3 albums in next 8 months

Billie Joe's reaction was a bit over the top with all the swearing and just how he was acting like he's such a big time star, which granted he is but still it wasn't necessary for him to act that way. I do kind of understand where he was coming from though. It was sort of weak for that festival to have them there to perform and then only give them part of their time they were supposed to have to play. They could've been doing a gig of their own and probably been making more for doing so.
