Wolf Alice @ Brighton Music Hall last night. They were actually great. I wasn't that familiar with them, and was surprised at how good they were live. And it doesn't hurt that singer/guitarist Ellie Rowsell is easy on the eyes.
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros @ The Sinclair tonight. Band sounded strong, but the show was disappointing. They only played for 60 minutes, and exclusively played their new album (which isn't even out yet). Not even an encore. I've been to shows like this before and it was fine, because its usually announced ahead of time; but this was just a straight concert billing, so I think a lot of the crowd left frustrated.

Iron Maiden (The Raven Age was the opener)
4/6/16 - The Palace - Detroit, MI
Another great show from the guys. The songs from the new album came off great live. Loved it!

Opening of T-Mobile Arena tonight
The Killers. Here with Blue Man Group playing percussion on "Human"
edit : Here's somebody's video of that song. Thought it was the highlight of the concert.

Saw Maiden last night in Chicago for the umpteenth time. Another great show. I'm pretty sure Janick Gers isn't even plugged in at this point.

Just got back from seeing The Darkness in DTLA. Great show - but I was bummed out they didn't perform Open Fire. Last time they played it in the encore.
Aside from the guitar volume being too low for the first two songs it was a great show.

I saw David Gilmour last night at Madison Square Garden, in what very well could be his last show ever in the US. Definitely a bucket list sort of experience and well worth the 2 hour drive into Manhattan. Even at 70, the guy plays and sings great. I also thought the sound quality was the best of any arena show I've ever seen. I don't know if that's an MSG thing or a Gilmour thing, but it was nice to see a big show like that that wasn't just a wall of noise.
I did have a few quibbles with the setlist. The most "obscure" track of the night (outside of the new stuff, which I generally like) was The Blue from On An Island. Yawn. That's probably the most sleep inducing track on his most sleep inducing album. He's must really like playing it because it's neither a crowd favorite nor a beloved deep-cut. I would have rather he played just about anything else in it's place. The rest was just your standard post-Roger Waters Floyd set, plus Fat Old Sun, which has become a regular part of his solo shows (and was one of the highlights of the night). That said, I will never tire of Comfortably Numb, Shine On and Time, no matter how many I hear them. I also really enjoyed Us and Them and Astronomy Domine, despite neither song being a particular favorite.
All in all a good night, and while I'm bummed I never got to see the real Pink Floyd, I've seen Waters a couple of times and now Gilmour, so I guess that's the best I'm going to do.

I saw Thomas Dolby do a keynote presentation this week at a tech event. It was an hour and this was the only song he did but he was a great speaker! I didn't realize what he's done...(Started company that build Nokia's audio tech for ringtones, he is a professor at John Hopkins around film music, used the money from playing on Foreigner 4 to buy the better stuff he needed to make his first record, etc..)

Saw Duran Duran (with Chic) for the second time on this tour Saturday night in Charlotte. I guess I had better savor the memory because at this rate it will be the only concerts I see anytime soon. Add Pearl Jam to the list of artists cancelling their North Carolina shows

Pearl Jam in Greenville this past Saturday night. Vs. in full for the first time ever = a very happy me.
The fact that I chose the Greenville and Columbia shows to go to (and not Raleigh) also = a very happy me. (My condolences to Dubya above.)

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Thanks. Glad you got to see them (and will again Columbia). I knew the odds were they were going to cancel but the frustrating part is we would have tried to get tickets to the Hampton show (three hours away) had we had advanced notice. When they didn't cancel last week we thought it was a go. To cancel about 48 hours before show time is very disappointing.

I saw Eyes Set to Kill and One-Eyed Doll a week ago. My friend really wanted me to see One-Eyed Doll and I understand why now. Very quirky, entertaining, sexy, and it's just her on guitar and vocal with a drummer.

Garth Brooks (& Trisha Yearwood)
4/22/16 - The Schottenstein Center - Columbus, OH
Not really a country music fan, but I thought he was a fantastic performer.

Duran Duran and Chic tonight! First concert I've been to since Sade's Soldier of Love tour. Hopefully the lawn isn't underwater when I get there.
