I have no interest in them since Page left. Ed Robertson doesn't have a good enough voice to front the band. The songwriting is also far inferior without him. The magic is just gone.

Took a mini-vacation to NYC and saw Rush at Madison Square Garden. Great show. They sounded great, it looked to be a sell-out crowd, and the crowd was very vocal and appreciative. All of which was great to see because the crowds in Pittsburgh seemed to be declining over the last few years. They didn't even sell upper level seating for the Clockwork Angels tour there.
This was my first show at Madison Square Garden. It's a beautiful venue, and I'll have to find my way back again. Can only imagine how cool it would be to see Billy Joel or Springsteen in there. Plus, there was some incredible pizza across the street at a place called Pizza Suprema.
The ONLY issue I had with the Rush show was:
otherwise, the setlist was great with some real surprises, they played my all time favorite song, and the staging was something only Rush would consider. Despite how they're portraying this in interviews, this is very much a farewell tour.

Went to The Rolling Stones last night. They are a pretty good live act. If they keep it up they are going to make it big one day.

That was also quite some time ago. 2009, to be precise. They've released three albums since his departure.
True, but in this case, he wasn't. Page may have had the better voice, but he was not the only singer, nor songwriter in the band. Ed Robertson sang lead or co-lead on many of the group's biggest hits, including "One Week", "Pinch Me" and "If I Had $1,000,000". He was also the other main songwriter in the band.
Per the band's website at the time...
Our relationship with Steve Page was great and very fruitful. It lasted almost 20 years, but it was time to move on. Now we're doing something that feels really fresh and exciting to us. His departure left four singers and three multi-instrumentalists in the band, so we're not lacking for musical ideas, and now there's more room for the other writers in the band to bring songs to the table

Sammy Hagar & the Circle came to my town to play. I thought he looked and sounded great for someone who will be turning 68 this year.

Took the kids to see Saint Motel and Weezer at the Taste of Chicago yesterday. July 8th in Chicago, and the high temperature was around 62 or so.

I didn't attend but I clearly heard the concert just outside of the venue.

July 10th - Kip Winger at a small club in Dayton, OH. (about 150 people)
He looks a bit like Barry Gibb these days. Sounded okay, but spent way too much time futzing with and tuning his guitar.

Saw Danzig last night at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA. I got there early so I was in the front. It was a great set list and for a guy who just turned 60, Danzig can still put on a Hell of a show.

I went to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival yesterday. 13 bands performing over the course of 9 hours or so. Headliners were King Diamond and Slayer. King Diamond was performing without makeup due to an eye infection which I'm not sure why that would not allow some makeup though.
Slayer was great, set was a little short at around an hour. Nobody showed any interest in Devil Wears Prada. The second stage (Victory Stage) had a ton of energy all afternoon.

It always amazes me how many guitars Whitechapel has, and then how underutilized they all are.

I have never seen one band more than 3 nights in a row (and that only happened once in 1982, for The Police)...but I saw X this past weekend FOUR nights in a row, doing one of the first four albums each night. Unbelievably great and was an endurance competition to get there early each night for a good taping spot and stay up through 2/3 openers each night. But wow, I am so happy I saw it all.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw 'Dave Matthews Band' at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte last Friday night with my wife and some friends of ours that had a couple of spare tickets.
Outside of some of their hits, we really didn't know too many songs, but they still put on a good show despite the fact that it was 95F out!!
They split the show into 2 parts - the first been acoustic for maybe an hour or so and the after a 15-20 minute break they came out for a lsightly longer electric set.
Overall an entertaining show which ended with an awesome version of 'All Along The Watchtower'.
Next up is 'Breaking Benjamin' with 'Young Guns' supporting, at the end of August at a local club called Ziggy's that has both an indoor and outdoor venue
