Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw Elton John tonight at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL. Good show 2 hours and 45 minutes straight, sagged a bit in the middle but I'd give it a solid out of .

Three new Leon Russell songs in a row was probably not the best choice...

I just saw them (JC/They Might Be Giants) a couple night ago. Thought Coulton was very TMBG-esque (at least their later/band stuff). I was surprised to learn that he did "Still Alive" from Portal!

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

New Multitudes last night at Webster Hall NYC. They are basically a super group of Folk Rock assembled to put music to some lyrics of Woodie Guthrie.

Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Jay Ferrar, Anders Parker and Will Johnson. I was expecting a kind of boring, slow show but it was pretty great.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Back on 2/25 I saw the Reverend Horton Heat, opened by The Goddamn Gallows and Larry & His Flask in Lawrence, KS. The Rev and Larry were both pretty good, but the Gallows weren't quite my style. Had a great time though.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw The Black Keys on wednesday. A great show. the guys sounded very good (even if I was convinced they played 80% of the songs a fraction FASTER than they are on record), had great energy and the setlist was nearly perfect. Arctic Monkeys opened the show, but I've never been a big fan of theirs - they were extremely loud, far too distorted and a bit all over the place. I'm going to see the Keys again in the summer and can't wait - if you like them, definitely worth the ticket price.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

My favorite band in a somewhat obscure Christian band called the 77s. I've seen them in concert several times over the years, and last night saw half of the band do a home concert about 20 minutes from me. Here's a fairly lame little 27 second snippet from what was one of my favorite experiences ever.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

The Head and the Heart last night. A bit too folky for me. More likely to listen at home than see them live.

Elton John Friday night at the PNC Arena. Been a fan since I was a kid and listened to my mom's copy of his greatest hits album in the 70's but had never seen him live until now. Fantastic show and well worth the $$$!

Next up - The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony in Cleveland on April 14th!

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I saw Justice the other night at the 930 Club, fun show that had a awesome stage set up. Every time you thought you saw it all with the stage, it would do another cool thing. These guys are some of the best DJ's i've ever seen.

3/22/12: Not To Reason Why/Ancient Warlocks/Mars Red Sky @ The Arlene Francis Center

Loved all the bands. It's been a good month since I went to show where I liked all the bands.

My New Years Resolution for 2012, to going back to enjoying as much live music (that I like) is one of the best things I've decided to do.

D.R.I. 30th Anniversary Tour @ Outland, Columbus, OH

Amazing they've been around for 30 years. Despite Spike's bouts with cancer, they blazed through classics spanning their entire career. I am always amazed at how many great songs they have in their catalog.

The Magnetic Fields with Bachelorette opening at the Orpheum. Magnetic Fields were very good. Bachelorette was not.

where there a whole bunch of twats moshing near the stage? - that's what ruined the last show of theirs at the 9:30 Club.

There were, lots of crowd surfing. That's why I stick to the soundboard, great view, little hassle.
