I think you mean Deer Tick, not Deerhunter.

Recent concerts:

You're right. My bad. I wish it had been Deerhunter instead. Love that band.

I was there too.

Was quite the show, he really sounded good, though I guess some of the songs really were missing out on the full band sound when they got to their "rocking" parts. I wonder how that is going to translate at Coachella?

I was glad to get some Elf Power too, didn't even realize those guys were going to be there.

I saw them the night before, at Mohegan Sun in CT. Did Motorhead play a really short set? They played maybe 8 songs here:

Bomber
Damage Case
newer song I didn't recognize
The One to Sing the Blues
Going to Brazil
Killed By Death
Ace of Spades
Overkill

Am I forgetting one? Metropolis maybe? Anyway, it was short. Before Overkill, Lemmy said "We've got one more. Sorry."

Mohegan Sun has a strict curfew for a lot of their concerts, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was shorter than most of the tour. I remember Peter Frampton touring last year, performing 2 full sets (about 3 hours) at most locations; except for the Mohegan Sun show, where it was specifically listed as being a shorter, 1-set show because of curfew.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Matt and Kim are amazing live...seen them 3 times now.

I go to alooooot of shows.

Finished out 2011 with 2 Brand New shows (one being their NYE show), Gaslight Anthem (w/ Springsteen appearance), Thursday.

Saw this great up and coming band in January called He's My Brother She's My Sister for the second time. They opened for Alexander Ebert and blew me away, had to see them headline. Check them out.

Upcoming - Cults, Jane's Addiction, Black Keys/Arctic Monkeys, 5 Springsteen shows, Of Monsters And Men, possibly RHCP (depending if they play Lolla or not)

I was at that Gaslight show as well. I'll probably be at Jane's depending on where you are seeing them. Maybe The Black Keys and possibly RHCP.

Anthrax/Testament last night. Testament was eh, Anthrax was pretty good again. Not my style of music but I can appreciate a good show.

I'm a music photographer so my shows are a mix between work and pleasure.

This Month:
Sleigh Bells (shooting/seeing)
Rascal Flatts (shooting)
The Kills (shooting/seeing)
Van Halen (seeing)

Jane's at the Wellmont. Your shots are great man. And your write up on Gaslight was so true. I was at the Summerstage show...and even shows before that. All people do, especially ones in NJ are spread rumors at the shows. Its pretty annoying.

I should be at that Wellmont show. I live 5 minutes away. I wont know until a couple weeks before the show.

Funny, before the Convention Hall show he never even played with them on stage in the US. Maybe I am wrong.

At the Summer Stage show there was a black Escalade parked behind the stage in the lot but the fence was open, the driver was standing outside and there was someone inside. Everyone in VIP was yapping about Bruce being in the car so I couldnt take my eyes off it.

What did you think of Jonathan Coulton? Did you know who he was prior to the show? I'm a big Coulton fan...

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I don't get to as many concerts as I'd like, so, my most recent one was 3 months ago in Indianapolis:

Between the Buried and Me
Animals as Leaders
Tesseract

I just recently discovered Animals as Leaders and can't stop listening to their latest CD. I REALLY want to see them live now!

On a related note I hope to see Periphery (who I also recently discovered) open for Protest the Hero along with Jeff Loomis etc... Although I still think Animals are better.

Also debating driving 2.5 hrs on a school night to see East of the Wall...another new discovery I can't stop listening to.

Just sold out in Seattle, I'm bummed I missed it since it's my favorite venue too. But there are others just after that will help:

Kaiser Chiefs
Twilight Sad

Last concert:
Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Although the Tardis got a little damaged during the trip back. Lynnott was in great voice, though.

Skipping ahead a few decades, saw Gillian Welch & David Rawlings back in the fall in Bristol, TN.

Animals were awesome live. I got into them about a year and a half ago after a friend suggested them to me. Tosin seems like a really humble and nice guy and (at least at the show I was at) all of the members were absolutely spot on live.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw Testament headline at a smaller club in the NW burbs of Chicago. Thought they played pretty well. Nice mix of old and new tunes. But no "Trial By Fire".
