Sounds like it could be OK but I'll believe it when I see - or hear, rather - it.
[Of course if 'Zeitgeist' was Billy's idea of a classic "rawk" SP album who knows what this is going to end up sounding like.]

Dear Billy Corgan,
On this album, please refrain from mixing your voice louder than everything else.
Thanks,
UAIOE

Feeling pretty good about his work with the SITS, those last few songs (plus the post zeitgeist songs) have been better than Zeitgeist.

On their website....or type in "Spirits In The Sky" in youtube. Alot of it sounds very similiar to the tracks "99 Floors" & "Owata" that were played on the last SP tour.

^haha
Billy posted in a blog entry dated Oct. 28th that the first song from Teargarden would be released just around the corner, but it's Dec. 1st and no new updates
The entry also claims that we can expect the first EP of Teargarden in January...I guess we can expect that to be delayed as well

The First song was released today.
It's a Song for a Son which should be familiar to people who went to the 20th Anniversary tour last year.

Saying first that I love the Smashing Pumpkins, the new song is terrible. It almost makes me sad to hear it. It's an overall studio failure. The vocals are too high, the instruments do not enter with any subtlety...and the drums, well, they sounds like plastic drums with cheap cymbals. It's just not a 'full' sounding song, and given that it is supposed to be epic...it never gets there.
I'm sure there will be backlash for the new drummer. Clearly he is no Jimmy Chamberlain, but I was expecting Billy to hire someone who would contribute to the sound more than the new kid. And if he is only 18 or so, then he should have only been hired if he was a complete monster behind his kit, which he is not. There seems to be a lot of dropped beat, especially during Billy solo and there just doesn't seem to be any creativity in what he is playing (same can be said of Jimmy after we figured out his style).
Count me in as someone who continues to be disappointed by all things Corgan post Machina, but who continues to listen hoping that something great will emerge.

Live versions of the next three songs: Astral Plane, Window Make My Mind and A Stitch in Time can all be found on youtube (from the spirits in the sky tour).
I really hope a studio "Owata" makes it way onto this album.
I think people declaring this the best work in a long time are sleeping on tracks like 99 Floors, The Rose March, The Crux, hell the entire American Gothic EP.
The release of that and the "If All Goes Wrong" dvd were low key, but the material was pretty strong.

But I'm gonna give Uncle Fester the benefit of the doubt....considering this stuff is gratis.
Hopefully he learns to bring the volume level on his vocals down. Vocals need to be part of a song...not above all of it.
