Stiv Bators (The Dead Boys / Lords Of The New Church)
What do you think about this guy? I have to say I think LotNC and his solo career are totally brilliant! Lords first self-titled LP and "Is nothing sacred?" are two masterpieces!

All I know about him is he had one of the more interesting rock star deaths.
And no it's not ironic that he was in the Dead Boys and he died.
In the summer of 1990, Bators was struck by a taxi in Paris. He was taken to hospital but reportedly left before seeing a doctor, after waiting several hours and assuming he was not injured. Reports indicate that he died in his sleep as the result of a concussion. Dave Tregunna said that Bators, a fan of rock legend Jim Morrison, had earlier requested that his ashes be spread over Morrison's Paris grave and that his girlfriend complied.

Ain't it fun for people to discover him.
It aint no fun however to wait to see an ER doctor in Paris.

I think Stiv is a bit overlooked and forgotten, and deserves better, post mortem or not.

Agreed. I have a friend who likes to go by the name Snotty on the Internet because he's such a fan. I seem to remember some good stories about the Dead Boys in the book Please Kill Me.

"Sonic Reducer" is a totally kick-ass song, I love it. Some of the Lords' stuff is really good too.

Not familiar with the Dead Boys, but the Lords had several really awesome singles. I always liked this one:

Loved both the first Dead Boys album and the first Lords album. Stiv was a fantastic singer/frontman.

That really brings back memories. We used to go there once or twice a week. usually on Thursdays I think, though I don't remember why. The 6 inch high stage, the door to the alley was right behind the stage as was the stairs going down to the bathrooms, which were always packed with boys and girls getting enhanced. The late 70s were a great time for clubbing, CBGBs, Max's Kansas City, Club 82, The Bottom Line, Coventry... We even saw Patti smith Group in the short lived CBGBs Theater. That place was a wreck. It's probably a good thing it was closed down before something horrible happened.

wow that's cool. I love that late 70s-early 80s new wave/punk time period. Did you by any chance see Blondie, The Fleshtones, or the Cramps?
