Greening the CDs
Anyone remember back in the late 80's/early 90's when that rumor was going around that if you color in the inner part of the CD with green sharpie pen ink, it would make the CD sound better?
Anyone ever do this?
I did on a couple - altho I don't remember any difference!

Re: Greening the CDs
Believe it or not, there is still a product out there called CD Stoplight
http://www.musicdirect.com/p-218-aud...stoplight.aspx
The Original Budget Tweak is Still Going Strong!
A Stereophile Recommended Accessory for the Last 18 Years! Recommended by John Atkinson, Sam Tellig and Robert Harley!
The AudioPrism CD Stoplight (the green pen) is the Original CD Tweak and has been around for the last two decades. No tweak can survive this long unless it's truly effective! The CD Stoplight is one of Music Direct's all-time best-selling budget tweaks. Just paint the edges of your CDs to greatly reduce disc read-error and reduce jitter while improving clarity and reducing glare. We have sold the CD Stoplight to well over 5000 customers in the last decade. This tweak really works and it's affordable and simple to use!
"This stuff works! The cost per disc of this tweak is almost zero … it offers a big bang for the buck and can be confidently recommended!"
Here's the kicker:
Price: $24.95

That's how I remember it. I don't understand why it needs to be green. Wouldn't a black sharpie be just as good? Never did it since I didn't want to mark up my CDs. Plus, I was always worried that chemicals from the marker would creep into the CD plastic and eventually destroy the disc.

Always sounded like bullshit, anyway.

I've still got one or two CDs I bought like in 1990 and they're playing all right unless they're scratched -- I remember this rumour though but I never did try it...
