Anyway, I had recently heard a cover of Skinny Love on Radio1 and then it popped up on the Vampire Dairies last week. Well worth a listen.

Here is the cover by a 14 year old in the UK. Apparently "Birdy" is her stage name (real name Jasmine Van den Bogaerde). Anyway, the cover is very different - much slower and haunting in tone.

This is one hell of a version of it. Quite emotional. I get chills each time I hear it, if I watch it - they increase 10x.

New album is painfully boring and disappointing. He took everything that made the first album such a raw and emotional experience and got rid of it by glossing it up.

I've been enjoying it, I think he either could have made For Emma Pt. II or try and flesh out his sound a bit more and I can respect the decision to choose the latter.

The last track soft rock business is a bit of a head scratcher though.

I love the first album and the Blood Bank ep, but I'm having a hard time getting into the new album. I keep hoping it will grow on me.

Keep listening. I love the new album and enjoy that he added more sounds to it. I think it was smart not to remake the "Emma" album.

I didn't care for the Blood Bank EP but loved the first record.

Hate to say it, but I fully agree with both quotations. Bon Iver tried a much more commercial approach to this album. I would have been much happier with For Emma, Forever Ago: Part 2.

I love Bon Iver's cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me/Nick of Time" which is the b-side to the "Calgary" single.
